Sync Square to QBO instructions say to create Products +Srvcs:Square Item,Square Tips,Square Line Discount,Square Shipping. Are these Inventory Non-inventory or Service?

The integration between QBO and Square is so easy, jacquijax.

If you want to use the items from Square, you can import them into QuickBooks Online. You'll want to verify it with Square if these are Inventory, Non-inventory, or Service. What we need is a .CSV file from Square which contains all these items. You can follow these steps in importing it:

  1. Go to Sales tab and select Products and Services.
  2. From the New drop-down, select Import.
  3. Click Browse to open the file and follow the on-screen instructions.

In addition, you'll see a "Square item" on every transaction you've downloaded if you don't want to import your items from Square. Then, you'll have to manually edit those transactions to change the items.

It would be best to reach out to Square to learn more about syncing it with QuickBooks Online.

Hi Alex, thank you for your response.
In the QB help document copied below, it says to add these to QB before syncing. I did import but QB is asking for the categorization because I have Plus with inventory tracking. It’s not a designation that Square gives.

Sync Square to QBO instructions say to create Products +Srvcs:Square Item,Square Tips,Square Line Discount,Square Shipping. Are these Inventory Non-inventory or Service?

Hi, @jacquijax.

Thank you for coming back here in the Community. It would be my pleasure to provide insights about importing transactions in QuickBooks Online using the square account.

The screenshot you provided below is the default names that are automatically created in QBO once you will sync the square in QBO. So there isn't a need to set up as non-inventory or service.

Let me give you the step by step instructions on how to import products and services.

Here's how:

  1. Follow steps 1 to 3 above.
  2. Verify and hit the Next button on the Map data page.
  3. Check the items, then hit import

For the detailed guide, check out this article: Move your lists.
