Our week goes from Monday - Sunday, and not Sunday - Saturday. I tried to change the settings for "Time tracking", but that was only in "My Practice", and not for our company. There isn't even an option to change the day of the week in the company settings of our company...
I know that I can customize a report to show from a specific day to a specific day, but I was hoping to be able to compare multiple weeks, as different columns next to each other, but with our correct start of the week day, otherwise the report we can get, in that format, is pretty useless to us. Is there a way to get our start of the week day for reports to change to our correct day?
Solved! Go to Solution.
When you select "Add Customer field to timesheets" checkbox, the field should expand to show the "First day of work week" choice. See attached screenshot for reference. If that's not the case on your QBO file, you will need to call Intuit support for help.

Hello NewToThis!
Welcome to QuickBooks Online Community!
You can change the first day of your work week in your Company Preferences.
Your time sheets will now begin on the appropriate day.
Here's the screen shot of the expanded options for time tracking under our company settings.
There's no option to select the start of the week...
Have you tried running your custom timesheet reports and the use the group by "work week" instead of week. It seems to be using my work week start date I defined. I have a report sending me last week and or last months timesheets and grouped by "work week". I hope that might help your problem. It seemed to resolve my reporting issue.
Hi - I am a restaurant and have adapted to the limitations of this reporting system by using the four week reporting feature. I just book things as if the week ends on Saturday even though sales are through Sunday. The problem I am having now is as I have transitioned to a new year, My four weeks are off. The last period of 2018 I had to have a fifth week in period 13 to get back on Calendar. But as I try to run a new four week report for 2019, it will not break from the prior 4 week consecutive periods. My new four week should be 12/30/2018-1/27/19 but when I run a 4 week report for that period, I get one column for the first three weeks and another for the fourth week. How do I reset this four week period? Essentially adjust my fiscal year that is not end of month. Thanks!
Hello there, @Qdpgh.
Thank you for choosing QuickBooks as your accounting. I can help you have the report you need.
Since the default time you've selected is only for 4-week, this could be the reason the report is off by a week. You have the option to modify the time period format you wish in QuickBooks Online.
I'll show you how:
That should help you get the report with 12/30/2018-1/27/19 period, Qdpgh. To know more about customizing reports, please click this link.
Let me know if there's anything else you need about reports. I'm still here to help you further. Wishing you and your business continued success!
Thanks. I use Desktop Pro 2018. Not sure if that matters. I have adjusted the dates to be the right dates. It just is creating a break within those four weeks based on last year's fiscal calendar.
Hi, @Qdpgh.
Thanks for the prompt response and the additional information. Allow me to join the conversation and share some more insights about the 4-week period reporting in QuickBooks Desktop.
Resetting the 4-week period and adjusting the fiscal year for your P&L Report in order for the system not to recognize the date selected as an end of a month is currently unavailable.
If you wish to have this option, I suggest sending product suggestion straight to our Developers. Here’s how:
1. Go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
2. Select Product Suggestion.
3. On the QuickBooks Feedback window, fill out onscreen instructions.
4. Click Send Feedback.
Please know that your voice matters and that updates and changes to QuickBooks are largely the results of feedback provided by users like you. Rest assured, I’ll make sure to submit feedback on my end in regards to your issue with the 4-week reporting period to reinforce your request.
That should do it. Let me know if you need anything else, I’ll be more than happy to help. Thanks for reaching out and take care!
Still in reports, (not time tracking) there is no option to do a week starting on Monday and finishing on a Sunday. Please get this forwarded to the quickbooks software development team. I just want a weekly P&L emailed to me automatically giving me all the accounts for the last week, so I can act dynamically to prevent losses. Sunday is a trading day for me and hundreds of other businesses. So I want to include this in the weeks accounts.
Hi jacklimond,
You can customize the date of the P&L report to make it Monday to Sunday like in the screenshot. Then, if you need to compare weekly reports, you can create a report for each week. Then, export them to Excel and combine them on one sheet.
I can see that having an option to customize the date range is really useful for you and for other users as well. I will pass along your suggestion to our product development team.
If there's anything that you need, feel free to post back.
Hi I am also getting frustrated. I need reporting to be done Monday through Sunday and I also need to be able compare reports by time periods that I choose. It is was too time consuming exporting and then customizing through excel.
Same here, as a restaurant we need to reporting to be Monday through Sunday, It is hard to believe that QuickBooks has gotten so big that they just don't care about the end-users anymore. This is a big issue with reporting. It seems like a simple request to change the reporting day.
Agreed, they really need to fix this issue. Too time consuming, the reporting needs to be compared against POS and we need to be able adjusted the start day.
