Good day, dcrumpler1996.
I understand that you need to update the phone number on your QuickBooks Payments account. For security purposes, it requires a confirmation code to verify your identity. This also helps keep your account safe.
What I can suggest is to reach out to our QuickBooks Payments Support if you no longer have access to your old phone number. You can request to change it.
Here's the link for more details on how to update your account information: Change password, security question, account email, or user ID for the merchant service center.

I am having the same issue. I have been able to change the phone number for the account. However, we closed our old payroll account. Have reopened new account with the same bank that has our general account. Set up new payroll account in QBonline payroll. 2 small deposits and a withdrawal was made to this new account to verify. Using bank settings, when I try to confirm this as the new bank- Intuit wants to text or call a phone number that was associated with this account from 12 years ago that we no longer have access to. As a matter of fact I called that number to ask whoever's line it is to please cooperate with us and give us the code- BUT it isn't even a line that is operational.
I have seen you say to reach out to "Account Protection Services" and to provide good scanned license or other government ID- that's great. HOW DO I GET IN TOUCH with "ACCOUNT PROTECTION services?
I have been on the phone for hours with 2 different techs. One scheduled a call back twice and never called back. Our Federal and state tax payments are now late and we are facing penalties bc the old payroll account has been closed as it was supposed to be.
Thank you in advance
I can see the urgency of how it's important to pay your Federal and state taxes on time,
Generally, when you're unable to access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account due to the unavailability of some information when it needs to be verified, Intuit always has a certain process on how you'll have to do about it. However, since this is already a newly reopened account and you have already been on the phone with our tech support for hours but didn't receive a callback, I suggest you reach out to our payroll support team instead. This is to ensure that they'll be able to check if no relevant documents are needed aside from those you've already submitted before. Don't worry, you don't need to start all over with what the conversation is all about. Notes are being added every time you'll reach any of our Intuit support channels. Thus, they'll be able to help you determine what will be the next step that you're going to undertake.
Once you're able to reach out to our payroll support, let us know the updates. This way, we'll also be able to track the process and help you speed this up in our own way. Furthermore, you can also check out this article if you want to know how to add Intuit's service email addresses to your email. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions about accessing your account. We're here to help you all the time.
I appreciate your providing a link to payroll support. It is difficult sometimes to discern quickbooks vs online payroll. I will try using the link.
