When estimating can you organize products and services? Putting them in a certain order?

Hey there, bvanpeltami.

Welcome to the Community. You've come to the right place for help with QuickBooks. I'd be glad to show you how to organize products and services when estimating.

There are just a few to organize products and services on an estimate in QuickBooks Online. Here's how:

1. Begin creating an estimate as normal. Click the Create icon (+) in the top right corner.

2. Select Estimate.

3. Enter all of the necessary information.

4. If you need to reorder products/services, click on the small box made up of 3x3 dots to the left of the item. You can then drag the item to where you need it to show in the list.

5. Click Save and new or select the drop-down to click Save and close.

I'll include a brief video below as well to show you how this can be done.

You'll now be able to re-organize the products and services in an estimate however you'd like. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any other questions.

Yes. You can add items to an estimate in whatever order you choose. You can also drag and drop line items on the estimate, moving them around where you want them. In the far left column there is a square of dots, when you see the four-way arrow you can drag and drop the line item.

When estimating can you organize products and services? Putting them in a certain order?

Hi,

I am having an issue with this. I can no longer move my different lines up or down. It seems that If I have anything typed into the description box they will no longer move.

I have been using Quickbooks for a couple years and I have never had this problem. I have always been able to reorganize line items as needed. Is this some sort of an update, or glitch? Do you know how I might be able to solve this problem? It is becoming a pain to try and properly layout my estimates/invoices.

Thank you

Thanks for joining the thread, @Breelan Construction.

There are times that accumulated cache in a web browser can cause unexpected behavior with the product. This may be the reason why you're unable to move the lines items.

To isolate the issue, let's run some basic troubleshooting steps. You can start by opening your account in a private window. Simply press the following shortcut keys:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox).
  • Control + Option + P (Safari).

If you're able to move the line items to a certain order, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. You can also use another supported browser as another option.

When estimating can you organize products and services? Putting them in a certain order?

Hi ,

Thank you for the reply. I did try this and it did not make any difference. I have also tried clearing my caches, I actually updated/redownloaded my Chrome browser and I have tried it in two different browsers (Microsoft edge and Firefox). Nothing has made it work.

It only seems to do it once I have added text to the description box. But it never used to do this.

Can you suggest any other options or possible fixes?

Thanks
