When I select an existing journal entry, select copy entry, update entry, and save, the system saves the new entry using the same number as the copied journal entry.

I now have duplicate journal entries with different information. I need the system to create a new journal entry number.

Thanks for bringing your issue with us, accounting603.

I'm here to help you determine why the Journal entry number isn't updating and provide troubleshooting steps to fix this.

The browser's temporary internet files can cause strange behavior in the software. Logging in to a private window will help us determine whether or not this is a browser-related problem. Private browsing doesn't use extensions and stops the cache from saving your browsing history.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

If it works, you can return to your default browser and delete any cached files to eliminate excessive files. Otherwise, use another supported browser as an alternative.

For future tasks, you can check and run reports in QBO. These provide a clear overview of your business's financial health, including income, expenses, and profitability.

I'll be around if you need more help regarding journal entries or any other concerns. I'll be sure to assist.
