Thank you for connecting with the Community, hpstein. Let's go ahead and do some troubleshooting steps to prevent your receipts from failing. The first process I would like for you to do is opening a private browser and log in. This would restrict stored cookies, history, or data that could be causing problems. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome:Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you can upload the receipts without any problem, this could indicate that your cache and cookies need to be cleared. Overtime collection of data can create corruption, but removing this should fix the issue. Here's how to clear them when using Chrome:

  1.  Choose the three vertical dots in the top corner.
  2. Select More Tools, then click Clearing Browsing Data.
  3. Change the time range to All Time.
  4. Only check Cached images and files.
  5. Tap Clear Data.

If you're using a different browser, this article has ways of removing cache and cookies.

Once completing these steps, you should be able to upload your receipts.

If you are still experiencing a problem, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. The Community and I will be available to help at any time. Have a great day, and keep me posted.

When I try to upload my receipts they fail. If I manually upload them they just spin, if I use the email function they fail.

I have some information that I want to share about why the feature is behaving this way. I'm here to guide you on what to do, Bob.

There's an ongoing issue with the mobile app receipt snap feature not working on Android. Our engineers are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can upload the receipt through a web browser. To do so, follow the detailed steps below:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to Transactions, then Receipts.
  3. Select Upload from computer or Upload from Google Drive.
Note: Each image or file should only contain a single receipt.

On the other hand, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can add you to the list of the affected users. This way, you'll receive an update once the issue is fixed. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to Help (?) and select Contact Us.
  2. Enter “talk to a human”, then select Continue.
  3. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

Furthermore, QuickBooks downloads the latest transactions and suggests categories based on how you categorized them before. Check out this article for more details: Categorize Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to let us know if you have any other concerns with uploading receipts. The Community is always here to further assist you.

I am not using the mobile app but a shared google drive file. My clients upload receipts to a shared drive and I want to upload them to their QBO. Do you have a solution for this problem? Thanks, Sue

Let me provide the solution that will help you upload your client's receipts using a shared drive, @sue4booking.

Since you're not using a mobile application, you can upload the receipt to QBO from your Google Drive. Before doing so, we don’t recommend uploading receipts with sensitive or personal info, like credit card numbers and government identifiers. Also, QuickBooks supports PDF, JPEG, JPG, GIF, and PNG images.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online
  2. Go to Transactions, then Receipts (Take me there).
  3. Choose Upload from Google Drive.
  4. Note: Each image or file should only contain a single receipt.

Once done, review, edit, add, or match those to existing transactions first. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Receipts.
  2. In the For Review tab, you can review your uploaded receipts. QuickBooks lets you know if it finds existing transactions in your books that match your uploaded receipts.
  3. Check the labels in the Action column to find out what steps you need to take next.

Furthermore, I will share some links that will assist you in tracking your receipts and matching your bank transactions in QBO:

I'll gladly help with any other questions about uploading receipts or QBO-related tasks. Have a good day, and keep safe always.
