Let's make sure that you can save your budgets in QBO, teresaelliott7-g.
There are times that too much cache or data in your browser can cause errors or unexpected issues when working in QuickBooks Online.
Start by using an incognito/private browsing session or a different browser. Here are some of the keyboard shortcuts to quickly open an incognito session:
Once done, log back in and check if you can already save the budget. If you go back to regular browsing and follow the steps in this article to delete temporary internet files: Clear Cache And Cookies To Fix Issues When Using QuickBooks Online.

But in a private browser, I am not seeing the option to import a budget?
Thank you for coming back on this thread and for following the troubleshooting steps outlined above, @keustice.
I've got some information and workarounds with your budget concern in your account. This way, you can import your budget data into QuickBooks without a moment's delay.
Importing budget is available in QuickBooks Online Advanced. If you're using this, you can follow the steps below to accomplish this.
If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our technical team. Our support has available tools to investigate your account in a secure environment and send a ticket to our engineers for further examination.
Here's how:
Ensure to call them within business hours to make sure we can cater to your concern promptly.
Although if you're using QuickBooks Online Plus, I'd recommend manually creating the budget into the system. Another option is to look for a third-party application that offers import functionality. You can visit our QuickBooks apps to find one.
Additionally, you have an option to run Budget Overview and Budget vs. Actuals reports. From there, click the Save customization, then after that, you can export the data into Excel or as PDF. Thus, you can review the information anytime outside QuickBooks. See the sample screenshots below for your reference.
Lastly, to learn more about creating, editing, and managing budgets in QBO, you may check this article: How to create, edit, and manage budgets.
If there's anything else you need help in your budget, please feel free to reach back out. I'm glad to assist you. Keep safe.
I am having the same challenge saving a new budget in QBO. I'm able to create and save the initial budget. We track by by class (there are nine classes) and when I attempt to add budget amounts to a subdivided budget classes and click Save, the button gets dark and nothing ever happens. I can get one or two Saves in, and then it becomes unresponsive to any others.
I've let it sit for up to 30 minutes and nothing. I've deleted and created multiple new budgets and the identical behavior always occurs - Save is unresponsive once I start to enter multiple budget amounts into classes.
Per the suggestions on this thread:
- I've tried different browsers (Chrome and Firefox).
- I've tried incognito/private tabs on both browsers.
- I've cleared cache and browsing history on both browsers.
- I've tried different browsers on an entirely different computer.
I wish I could import but regrettably, the lack of class support for importing budgets makes that option impossible.
Please advise, thanks.
Jamie

Autosave is not saving budget changes and the green save button in bottom right does not work, Save works in other applications
I appreciate your participation in this discussion thread, Jackson18. Let me assist you in resolving the issue of your budget not being saved.
There are multiple reasons why we're not able to save it. Often, one of them is QuickBooks ends up being poorly configured due to overloaded data sites.
I suggest using a private browser that does not temporarily store files.
You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts, to open an incognito window:
If you still having the same issue, try using another supported browser. It will help us determine if the issue is only specific to your current browser. If you can save the budget you are trying to create, I recommend returning to your regular browser and clearing cache and cookies.
However, if the issue persists, I suggest contacting our support team for further assistance.
