Why does quickbook put hold on invoice payments that are made from a Credit card or bank

Honestly,. they do it to make money.  The longer they "hold" your money, the more interest they collect.  It's all very dishonest.

(Someone that works for QB will be along shortly to give  you their trained, sugarcoated version of why thy do it).

I'll share information about the funds on hold in QuickBooks, finance.

Hold payments occur when our team identifies issues while reviewing transactions. If any issues are found, you will receive an email notification regarding them and follow the suggested actions or resolutions provided. Typically, our review process can be completed within two business days, once everything is settled.

Below are some common reasons for holds:

  • When your payment processing exceeds the established maximum dollar amount expected on your account.
  • When a transaction is processed after several authorization attempts and failures.
  • When certain transactions require verification of your business type to ensure it is compliant with the Intuit Acceptable Use Policy.
  • When our systems identify processing patterns that pose a risk to any of the parties involved: You, your customer, or Intuit.

To check the status, you may refer to the steps below:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. You'll see the word Withheld in the Method column. This is to indicate that the payment is on hold and we're reviewing it.
  3. Any time there's an issue, you'll get an email at the email address you use to sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  4. Read the email carefully. It will give you specific steps to fix any issues.
  5. Then, follow the steps in the email as soon as possible.

If the funds are still on hold for a while, I recommend connecting with our Support Team for further assistance. They'll guide you in determining the details of the transaction and help you with your deposits. For the support's contact information, you can open this link: QuickBooks Online with Payments & Merchant Service Center Support.

To know more about the possible reasons why funds are getting on hold, you can also check out these articles:

Additionally, here's an article on how you can find out when QuickBooks Payments deposits customer payments.

Fill me in if you have further questions about payments on hold or anything else about QBO. I'm always around if you need any help. Take good care.

This guy gets it. I’m leaving QuickBooks today because they keep randomly holding my payments for 5 days. Drives me up the wall when I’m taking large payments for material on a job. Easily the worst run company I’ve ever used. They don’t care about their customers at all.

@Bill1211   It's what they do.  They are greedy, money grubbing a-holes that are making money off of your money.  THAT is why they "hold" it.
