Hello, I have updated my problem in the note above. Basically, I was manually forwarding emailed receipts to @books11249.com without issue. I was trying to set up automatic forwarding on gmail.
When I tried to set up auto forwarding in gmail, I got the following error.
Email auto-forwarding action needed |
|
I followed the link provided and the related instructions. It took me to a site that I had never worked on before (Perhaps it's Quickbooks Accounting): https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/receipts. The site had a box that said the email address for receipts @books11249.com is no longer working. I should create a custom email address ending in @qbodocs.com. When I did that, receipts are forwarded to quickbooks accounting, but not quickbooks self employed (https://selfemployed.intuit.com/home#/app/home). In quickbooks accounting, I don't see my bank accounts. So it's not as helpful to send receipts there.
I now want to go back to using the receipts @books11249.com email address. However, I now get this error below. Even though that email address is shown as registered on https://selfemployed.intuit.com/home#/app/home.

Can someone on your team set my account so that I can send receipts to receipts @books11249.com so that I can continue to work off of https://selfemployed.intuit.com/home#/app/home? It may require a software engineer to manually go to settings for https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/receipts and changing the email address back to receipts @books11249.com instead of custom @qbodocs.com
I should clarify that I use quickbooks self employed with turbotax. My preferred view is the tax view.
We're delighted to have you post in the Community forum, Patricia. Thanks for your troubleshooting efforts to isolate your issue, and we appreciate you sending us screenshots and further details.
You'll want to ensure you correctly set up the forwarding email receipts in your QBSE account. Note that the email address should be the same email you use in QBSE and shouldn't contain any special characters to prevent running into issues.
To set up receipt forwarding, please follow the steps below:
For more detailed information and process, visit this article: Forward receipt images to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

This is not helpful. I have already followed the steps above with success. As previously mentioned, my receipt forwarding was working just fine until I tried to set up automatic forwarding. It became messed up when I pointed to instructions for email forwarding on quick books online. Following the instructions for quickbooks online, messed up my ability to manual forward receipts to quick books self employed.
Hi there, patricia-simon01.
I appreciate you returning to the thread and sharing an update about your concern. I'm glad that you're able to follow the steps above with success.
Additionally, please know that QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self Employed are two different versions with distinct features. Thus, you always have to perform the procedure for QBSE to avoid any issues with receipt forwarding.
Don't hesitate to add a comment below if you still have concerns related to this matter, patricia-simon01. I'm always around to help. Have a great day!
This is not helpful.
My issue is still not resolved.
I have previously followed the email forwarding instructions with success.
It stopped working when I tried to use automatic forwarding. I was directed by quickbooks to make changes on QBO, even though I am a QBSE user (see message below). Making the changes on QBO destroyed the connection between my email and QBSE. I believe I may need someone on your side to manually change the settings to remove the conflict between QBO and QBSE that is causing this problem.
As noted above, I was directed to quickbooks online by an error email from the quickbooks company.
The error message below:
"A master admin of your QBO account can help register your email address for receipt and bill email forwarding."
Hi,
I appreciate you for getting back to us.

I'm always around whenever you have tax concerns.
I’m having the same issue. I try forwarding emails to [email address removed] from my registered email address and then I get an automatic reply saying this email is not set up for forwarding. So I follow the instructions and then I get sent to QuickBooks online, follow the instructions which is to create an email address and forward the email receipts to that, then they just sit there because I don’t have quickbooks online, I have quick books self employed. Can’t get any help to fix it as I just got told wait 24hours. It’s been a week still not fixed.
Let's perform some troubleshooting steps for you to email receipts to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) so it automatically records them, VikkiRokk.
Let's make sure we set up the forwarding email receipts with the email address same as you use in QBSE. If your email address has special characters, you may run into issues. Here's how to change the email address you use to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed. Once done, follow the steps below to set up receipt forwarding:
Once done, proceed to Step 2: Forward receipts to QuickBooks Self-Employed section in this article to email images of your receipts to QuickBooks: Forward receipt images to QuickBooks Self-Employed. Also, the email from which the receipt is coming must be verified and the email associated with the QBSE account. If not, you'll receive an email notification that we weren't able to process the receipts.
If the same thing happens, I'd suggest contacting our QBSE Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and help you with this one. Here's how:
For additional information, you can click this article: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support. This provides details on how you can contact QBSE support using iOS and Android phones.
Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Help Articles for QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Please let me know how it goes or if I can be of additional assistance. I'll be here should you have any follow-up questions. Have a great rest of the day!
