I know, you are probably asking yourself what cartoons or kid shows have to do with accounting and finance. And I could try and stretch and play 6 degrees of QuickBooks, but honestly, sometimes you just want a fun topic to discuss with people online. These Community Chatter posts always have been a way to get people talking in the discussions forum; and hopefully, even if you aren't completely comfortable commenting, you feel like you are getting to know us a little bit better.
So with that out of the way... why cartoons? Because the start of summer is such an iconic moment in so many people's lives. For me, it brings to mind memories of blazing hot sand and going on day-long bike rides with my friends. But every Saturday you can bet I was up early to get in a little bit of tv before mom kicked us outside. With that in mind, I was curious to see what everyone else watched when they were younger.

From Morgan:
As a 90s baby, I grew up watching the classics. My favorite Saturday morning cartoon would have to be Looney Tunes. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, the Roadrunner, the whole gang. I can hear the opening tune and it takes me right back to sitting in front of an old Zenith floor model television at my grandparent's house and watching these characters for a good part of the morning.
Can you say nostalgia?

From Kiala:
Another 90s baby here! My kids get up on the weekends and reach for their tablets but for me, it was all about those Saturday morning cartoons! It's so hard to pick a favorite but I'd have to go with Scooby Doo (with a bowl of cereal of course). Yes yes, I know, technically Scooby Doo stopped airing in the 70s on Saturday mornings but thanks to my grandma, I had the VHS! As a kid who was scared of most things, I loved Scooby Doo because in the end, the monsters were never real. Just the validation I needed when going to sleep at night. [Editors note: Kiala proceeds to sing the Scooby Doo theme song all day long.]

From Sasha:
As another honorary 90's baby, my all-time favorite show growing up was X-Men, only because it was my mom's favorite show as well! Once the theme music would come on, my mom and I would grab some cereal, and she would make some lemongrass tea with mint. We would then sit around the dinner table and watch the show which created the perfect bonding time. My favorite character was Storm. Something about her look and majestic white/gray hair and powers made me gravitate to her! This was an awesome time, especially for me cause I didn't have to start my chores right away!

From Lisa:
At the risk of showing my age, I was a huge fan of all the Hanna Barbera cartoons growing up, but if I had to pick one show from my childhood that I loved the most it would have to be The Muppet Show. I caught most of the episodes in reruns/syndication, but I still remember how I was absolutely riveted anytime it was on the tv. My favorite characters have definitely changed over the years, and most of the jokes went right over my younger self's head, but there was enough slapstick comedy and zany scenes that I would laugh and laugh. Looking back now I can appreciate how nice it must have been for my parents to have a show that we could all watch that offered something for each age group, but mostly I just remember the hijinks when Beaker was in the lab or the absolute chaos that was promised every time Animal came in frame.
