Great > Good

Good Friday afternoon, Community! It's great to have you back here in the Business Discussion space. Before you head out for the day and switch over to weekend mode, I wanted to share a write-up I found on businessinsider.com. This particular article covers seven ways to surpass being just a good entrepreneur, to being a great one. Here are a few points mentioned...

Figure out first what you most want to achieve in life
You may have to dig a little deeper than you think to find the answer to this one. Do you want to be a work-aholic on the constant pursuit of more money, or are you looking to be successful with a balanced work-life balance spent with family and friends? Maybe you're somewhere in the middle, and that's ok too! Just make sure you're after your version of success and not somebody else's.

Stop dreaming about your passion and start acting on it
At the end of the day, month, year, don't you want to be able to say, "Wow, I remember when I did ____!" rather than, "Darn, I always wanted to ____ and wish I had."? As an entrepreneur, I'm certain you have tons of grand ideas. Greatness requires acting on these ideas and ultimately reaching your goals. "To be successful in business, you need a high focus on results, as well as thinking. Business implementation requires determination and never giving up."

Constantly strive to learn new things and do things better
There's no such thing as too much education. As a business owner, it's important to not get too comfortable. There's always going to be new information and data circulating, that will help you and your company be even better. Go hunt for it!

Build relationships to complement your strengths
Both strengths and weaknesses are common to every single one of us. Building your network of relationships with others who have a similar mindset to your can help fill the gap weaknesses can create. "Capitalize on these relationships by listening well and delegating well."

Strive to build a legacy as well as a business
This is probably my favorite point mentioned. The writer mentions that great business men and women not only build a company, they leave a legacy that changes the world. This can be done in many different ways such as, "improving the environment, helping the less fortunate, or fostering a disruptive technology." Focus on your growth while simultaneously keeping the bigger picture in mind.

We all want to achieve greatness and I hope these points offer some good reminders of how to get there. How are you currently working toward being a great entrepreneur? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Take care and have a great weekend!
