Blogging – The Virtual Journal

Good afternoon, Community! Today I want to talk about blogging. I know about blogging but at the same time, I didn’t really know what blogging was. Does that make sense? No? Ok, how ‘bout a definition. According to Wikipedia, a blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries.

That leads me to ask – do you currently use a blog for your small business? I found that this practice is a great way to casually inform and interact with your clients and customers. Aside from positive engagement, there’s so much room for creativity in a space of your own. Some great ideas I came across for blog topics include:

  • Sharing the history of your business in a storytelling format.
  • Sharing a customer success story.
  • Discussing future plans.
  • Creating a list of influential people to follow on Twitter.
  • Answering FAQs.

These kinds of discussions allow avenues to open up for personal interaction with your followers. You may even gain some business knowledge you didn’t have, or the ability to look at things from a new perspective.

If you don’t have one already, maybe it’s time to start a blog for your business. You can get even more ideas of what a business blog looks like by checking out the official QuickBooks Blog. Additionally, I’d love for you to comment below with your best ideas for topics!

Blogging – The Virtual Journal

Hi Morgan,

Starting a company blog is one of the best ways to expand your online presence, especially if you have already decided on a specialty or a specific niche industry.  While we do have a company blog for Parkway, I must confess that I am not as consistent as I should be and that is primarily due to the number of places I have to share my content while keeping it original for SEO purposes.

One of the areas that has always generated the best web traffic has been my app review videos that are saved on the website as a portfolio.  By uploading my videos to my YouTube channel and then embedding that video on my sight, it gives Google two different ways to find my content faster.

Besides our website, a large amount of my new articles and content get shared into a Facebook group we co-created with @lynda called, QB Community Live.

Actually, if you want an example of a website that consistently publishes a new blog post every week, you should check out Lynda Artesani's website
