Ways To Be Encouraging

Happy Wednesday, QuickBooks Community, and yes, we can finally say Christmas is making her way down the aisle. In the spirit of Christmas and gift-giving, we should always remind employees how much of a gift they are to the company. In my opinion, most businesses are successful when employers take the time to appreciate their employees. Something as simple as giving a gift card, sponsoring breakfast or dinner goes a long way or developing their skill-set. Today, I would like to share with you ways to encourage your employees.

Trust them with more responsibilities.
You can encourage employees by giving them more tasks at hand. It shows them that you believe in them and trusts that they would do a fantastic job. Even if they make a mistake, which we are all humans, still encourage them. Also, verbally saying I trust you to do this builds up their confidence. 

Share their accomplishments and abilities with others.
When someone spoke about you and mentioned how great you are, didn't you feel encouraged and proud? This same energy we should have towards our employees. Praise them in private and public to create an environment of encouragement.

Tell them in writing.
If you are someone like me, you receive many notes, and you stick them in anything. I can not tell you how many books or bags I have these notes in. Recently, I was cleaning one of my bags and found a note from work thanking us for being apart of the team. In most cases, I wasn't necessarily looking for a note. But once reading it, it brings a smile to my face and makes me more appreciative. Incorporating something like this in your business would be an added benefit.

Show them that you care.
One wise person said, " One of the single best ways to encourage others is to care about what they care about." Taking the time to learn about others, their interest, what makes them tick, their uncertainties not only builds a relationship but also empowers them.
