Federal Tax Withholding

Hi there, @SVSU89.

Let's work hand in hand to determine why your federal withholding taxes aren't calculating correctly.

The first thing we can do is review and check your Payroll Settings to ensure they're in line with the federal withholding requirements.

If they're accurate but the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Payroll Team Support. They have the necessary resources to assist you and investigate this further.

Here's how you can reach out to them:

  1. Go to Help (?), then click Contact Us.
  2. Please enter your question and select Let's Talk.
  3. Review and Select from the following: Have us call you or Chat with us.

For future reference, we also have a variety of reports you can pull up in QuickBooks Online Payroll in case you need help checking up on your employee's data and other payroll-related concerns: Run payroll reports.

Loop me in if you'd like to know more about handling your payroll taxes. I'd be glad to share some details with you again. Take care.

Go to 2024 IRS Publication 15-T .  Fill out Step 1 of the form on page 12 (for 2020 or later Form W-4).  Take the Adjusted Wage Amount  from Line 1h and look up the Tentative Withholding Amount in the appropriate table and enter it on Line 2a.  Then, complete the rest of the form.  There have been many posts about this over the past couple of years and I have yet to see QB withhold the incorrect amount.  Good luck.

I am too new to this organization to have access to payroll.  I am troubleshooting my own paycheck.  According to IRS Pub. 15T 2024 Biweekly payroll for MFJ, I should have 10% withheld.  When I started I filled out the form as MFJ with an additional $10 taken out.  My last check had less than $55 when it should have been closer to $150-$160.  The person that does the payroll has no clue on what to look for and the Controller is too busy to look into it right now.
