How do I go back to the old version of QuickBooks? The new version takes soo much more time and I can’t figure out how to attach the sales tax

We recognize that change can sometimes be unsettling. I'm here to provide updates regarding the new layout, so you'll be guided on how this works, Kurt. We want to assure you that we're here to support you every step of the way.

The new layout will permanently apply to the Simple Start and Essential versions. On the other hand, the option to switch back to the old layout will be available for Plus and Advanced subscriptions. If you prefer the prior design, you may want to consider upgrading to Plus or Advanced to regain access to it.

For more details, see this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, I want to ensure your thoughts will reach our Developer Team, and with that said, I'd recommend sending feedback. This way, they can see your request and consider it for the next program update. I'll gladly write the steps below to get you going:

  1. On the top right corner, click the Gear icon.
  2. Below the Profile column, select Send Feedback.
  3. Enter a brief description of your feature request.
  4. Once you're ready, press Send.

On the other hand, when setting up sales tax in QuickBooks, you can check out this article for more detailed steps: Set up your sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

I'm adding these articles you can use in the future:

If you need further assistance with new displays in QuickBooks Online, post them here in the forum. I will be sure to answer them ASAP! Have a great day ahead!

Just where is this available in Plus?  I have Plus, and can't change back.  Haven't been able to since last month. Plus, the email I received almost 2 months ago says that ALL customers are forced to use this "new", sucky layout.

I hear your thoughts about having the option to switch back to the old layout, @Just_me.

Yes, the email you receive is correct. Let me add clarification to it. Starting May 6th, Plus and Advanced users will be moved to the new layout experience without the option to opt-out. This means that the said users no longer have a way to return to the classic invoicing. After the migration, classic invoicing will be deprecated. All users will use the new invoicing experience before the end of May 2024.

On the other hand, you can still use the new invoice layout to add the product and service you're selling to provide an invoice and email it to your customers.

After that, when customers pay, you then record the payment. Check this article to assist you further: Record invoice payments.

I value your thoughts about the new experience. The new interface is still improving its features for every user's needs. Keep us posted if you have other questions about the new invoice layout. We'll do our best to help. Stay safe.

DUH!!  That was my point.  Try telling your staff that, not the customer that ALREADY knows it.
