It is the same format as SSA file. Please dot not give directions on how to file the state. I already did my state. I need to submit my city/local tax. and the cities are not on my state file. I have employees that can work in 20 different cities each year. I see that quickbook customers have had the same question for several years.
Hi there, terri. I'll share some details about submitting local/city taxes in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
The SSA file is specific to federal taxes. However, we can still file for your local tax using your state agency tax documents.
Here's how:
Afterward, we can submit these tax files to your local or city tax agencies.
Alternatively, if you have a QBDT Payroll Assisted subscription and want to submit your W-2 forms instead, we can follow the outlined steps below:
For QBDT Payroll Enhanced and Standard, visit this article: Print your W-2 and W-3 forms.
Also, you can visit the different state agency websites to find details about tax forms, withholdings, unemployment and other tax, e-file, and pay information, general state and agency information, and employer registration.
I'm still all ears for any follow-up questions regarding filing your taxes in QBDT. Stay safe!
The state form does not have city taxes in the file
Hi terrimyers,
I can see that you've posted related concern on different thread. My colleague has already responded to it. You may review their answer through this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/employees-and-payroll/re-efw2-format-for-local-fil....
Keep me posted whenever you have other concerns about filing forms.
The post you are referring to does not have the answer that we are all looking for. The State file is missing the Local information and gets rejected by the locality. Is there a way to find or recreate the file that was sent to SSA?
Hi there, @ambergvwp.
I'm here to ensure you can recreate your rejected EFW2.
With regard to this, please know that QuickBooks Payroll Services only supports federal and state tax forms. Thus, local tax forms are not supported.
Alternatively, you can pull up and run various reports in QuickBooks Desktop that can help you recreate the file. I'll show you how to do it:
From there, those reports contained information that was needed for the localities.
Moreover, here's an article that might help you print copies of your W2: Print your W-2 and W-3 forms.
