Greetings, thank you for the update, and I am sorry it is still not working. Our Sales Tax Center continues to fail. I'm hoping Quickbooks will be kind in offering some financial compensation retrospective to October 2023.
I'm certainly going to request my monthly fees to be refunded.
So I have tried that and we only use 1 sales tax rate for the state of FL. There are other states listed and we get this error message when we do not check them off:
One or more of your tax rates is missing an official agency. Please match all rates with their respective official agency in order to carry over your information.
So I am confused. There is a state that we used years ago before we relocated and some other entries that we never used.
and theres also a non-taxable...what agency are you supposed to apply that to? System is still messed up and even trying to do it this way
I realized how complicated we've made things for your. I have a way so we can bring this again to our engineer's attention, Ked.
The previous sales tax issue that has been recorded by our product team has already been resolved. However, since you're still getting the same error, I recommend reaching out our support team so they can double-check why this is happening and investigate further. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.
Here's how to reach them:
Additionally, choose dozens of reports so you'll know the different aspects of your business. Read this article for more information: Run Reports In QuickBooks Online.
Stay posted if you have any other sales tax questions, I'll be always here to help you. Have a great day ahead!
as everyone else has stated have done that many times and have spent over 4 hours total on the phone with reps who cannot help me. If someone who actually knows what they are talking about wants to to contact me, please let me know and I will gladly give you my phone number to get this straightened out.
And now that they have forced me to "Automated Sales Tax" there is an additional problem where support can't figure out how to even ADD a sales tax agency. I'm going on month 3 of paying my accountant to take care of the taxes for me. Any support technician with any type of coding ability would have fixed this in hours, not months.
I received an e-mail from Intuit support that stated:
"We’re reaching out to you about a recent issue you had with AUTOMATED SALES TAX Customer cannot access Sales Tax Center "Give us a few minutes and try again. If it still doesn't work, call us so we can take a closer look.".
We reviewed your case (xxxxxxxxxx), and we're happy to say this issue was resolved."
I tried to use it, and got the same error I've had for months. Then I contacted support and they attempted to workaround the issue and ran into more errors. After an hour, I was linked to another existing ticket for the new issue I'm having.... "Tax Agency is not provided". They had me try Chrome, then Edge, then back to Chrome, then Icognito Mode, then clear my cookies. Needless to say, still broken.
I'm having the same issue still too. I contacted support, they could not fix it. Then told me they would have an update in 8 days. Seems like the same thing I was told in October, November, and December too. Why can't anyone at Intuit actually fix the problem? It shouldn't take months.
In the meantime, I'm paying my accountant to handle all of the manual entries required for the sales taxes due. I'm out my accountant's fees, over $600, as well as my QB fees, and I still can't use the product the way its intended.
Still nothing.
It's STILL broken for me... I really can't believe it. I don't know how to move forward...My sales taxes have been paid correctly (after a lot of manual work) but as far as bookkeeping goes I don't even know what I'll have to do for the last few months of 2023. and contacting support does absolutely nothing.
this 100% does nothing, has never done anything, and will continue to do nothing. and you're incorrect, the inital "sales tax center problem" has not been fixed. I am still getting the same error I have been getting for three months.
How are we going on 3 months and this still isnt fixed. Everytime I contact support its like they are just hearing about this? Does support not communicate?
3 months without a feature I pay for.....
Because they just don't care. Best bet is to elevate to the office of the President which will try to support you but then tell you that they can't do anything. Big waste of time in this bureaucratic bloated company.
Yea I asked if i was going to be receiving a partial refund since their product is not functioning as advertised due to a bug.
“Yea we don’t compensate for that”
Hi there... listening here. That does not sound that is of benefit to them.
Correction: That does not sound like it is of benefit to them. I am sorry this is happening.
What was the previous post about an update on Feb 5th? is this true? anyone out there from Quickbooks that can provide an actual answer? When I was a programmer and i did something like this i'd be up all night until i fixed it. and that was rare. 3 months+, i'd have no job after a week. who is running this show? there should be a team of people on this. The IRS doesn't care what your excuses are. Time for an answer, tick tok tick tok.. we cant wait much more!!!!!!!!!!!!
I understand how hard this experience has been, jeah and I appreciate your efforts in bringing this to our attention. Allow me to provide some information about this matter.
Beforehand, may I ask what you're referring to about the update on February 5th?
If you meant the sales tax issue discussed on this thread, please note that this case has already been closed. If you're still experiencing the same situation, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) support team. This way, they can investigate this further while ensuring your details remain secure.
Here's how:
Check out this support hours to determine their availability.
Moreover, I'll add this guide about how you can pull up a report to see how much sales tax you owe: Check how much sales tax you owe in QuickBooks Online.

Erika - How dare you post this non-sense solution again? We have all contacted support and have had less than satisfactory responses. The support department treats us like we don't know what we are doing and they don't research to see if the issue exists. Instead they ask us to use different browsers, clear our cache, etc... and waste hours of times. Then they will eventually say they found an open issue about the tax center and they will add our name to the ticket so we get updates. I have never gotten an update in months. We have all tried numerous times for support. Then the support department tells us to use this forum and use the feedback mechanism. Then on the forum, you guys tell us to contact support. Do you see how frustrating this is?
When will QBO own up and be accountable for their error? When will they coach their support department to value humans over process?
Right?!
this is ridiculous. Lmfao. This is exactly what happens everytime. Well I mean besides the 2 times when the chat support agent just left the chat after “looking into it” and asking me to hold on. Lol
Every time. Would you guys at QuickBooks like another screen shot? I can take another one? It’ll also show that the system hasn’t reported a tax payment since October since it’s been broken (despite me having to manually calculate our monthly sales tax).
Yup. Exactly. Same error.
I'm told to contact support. And then an article on how to manually calculate tax. lol what do you think I've been doing? My accountant is on me now cause this isn't working right. The new system just gives me an error that it can't modify a tax entity and fails immediately after trying to import. This is a code issue not reading/importing a table properly and the proprietary software that we use is of no use now.
no solution, just call support and calculate yourself. if it was closed then why was I not given a solution and why was I told to do it manually?
