New Reporting Requirements Colorado Unemployment 2023 Quarter 3

I can only imagine how challenging that situation must have been for you not having updated Colorado SUI, Izaakj.

Let me make it up to you by ensuring this gets sorted out.

QuickBooks Desktop Payroll provides updates to all subscribers. These updates include the current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal tax tables, payroll tax forms, and e-file and pay options.

You may encounter such an issue if your tax table isn't updated. Not to worry, you can have the new reporting requirements by updating it. Beforehand, you can check the complete overview of the most recent payroll update by selecting your product year from the list below:

Once done, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Employees from the top menu.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.

New Reporting Requirements Colorado Unemployment 2023 Quarter 3

I have always printed, signed and mailed in a check for the CO Unemployment tax. However, for 2024 Q2 all QuickBooks is providing to me is an amount to pay. Through tons of trial and error I figured out that CO has switched to online submission only. I made sure QuickBooks was linked (as per the instructions online). All my entries from 2008 through 3rd quarter of 2023 are listed and showing paid. However, there are NO further entries. I know I mailed in 4th quarter 2023 and 1st quarter 2024. How do I get that information corrected? How do I submit and pay for 2nd quarter 2024?

I can see that you did everything possible to ensure all entries are reflected accurately in QuickBooks, MFI08.

Let me help you correct the information so you can proceed with submitting and paying your 2024 entries.

Please know that QuickBooks recognizes payments you've made using the software. Thus, payments outside the program need to be entered manually. I'll walk you through the process.

  1. From the Help menu, choose About QuickBooks.
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Y or Ctrl + Shift + Y to open the Setup YTD Amounts window.
  3. Select Next until you reach the Enter Prior Payments section.
  4. Click Create Payment to enter all prior payroll tax.
  5. Enter the Payment Date and For Period Ending date.
  6. In the Taxes and Liabilities field, choose the payroll tax item and the amount you've paid.
  7. Continue to the next by selecting Next Payment until you have completed all payments. Then select Done to save your work.
  8. Click Finish to close the window.

For additional details, refer to this article: Enter historical tax payments in Desktop payroll.

About the 2024 2nd quarter, you need to authorize us as your Payroll agent if you’re using Assisted Desktop Payroll. This way, we can send electronic payments and forms on your behalf through any of our payroll products.

However, if you're using the Enhanced Desktop Payroll, you can set up state e-file and e-pay in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced to pay your state payroll taxes and file state forms electronically.

Further, you can generate payroll reports to view useful information about your business and employees.

You can always get back to this thread if you have further questions regarding tracking your CO unemployment tax or other concerns. I'll be sure to assist.
