Our accountant needs our 2018 1096 form, but we do not have a copy in our files. Is there a way to print out the previous year's 1096 from QB?

Hi there, @_Noted_.
There's a way, and I'd be happy to walk you through how to print the previous year's 1096 form.
Here's how:
If you're using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you may refer to the following article for the detailed steps: How do I print my 1099/1096 forms?. Just go directly to How to print your 1099/1096 forms in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. It also listed the steps to print a test form to check the alignment.
I'm just a post away if you should have any questions. Have a great rest of your week.

Just a heads up, I was not able to access this and just got off the phone with Quickbooks and apparently it is not possible, this is what I was told:
"Quickbooks cannot archive the 1096 the form. Once you e-file the 1099s, the 1096 will go along with them. For the 1096 form - they cannot archive it and you cannot see it on your end. If you want a copy you need to ask from the IRS."
This explains how to print 1099's from the previous year (2020) - is there a way to print 1099's or the 1096 from 2019?
I can share some information about printing previous year's 1099’s in QuickBooks, @ExecDir2.
At this time, prior 1099s to 2020 are no longer be generated in QuickBooks. If you’ve filed them electronically with us, copies of the previous 1099’s should be available in the File menu.
Here’s how:
However, if you haven't filed them electronically, you can only print them if you've saved the form as PDFs during filing.
Let me know if you need further assistance in printing the form. I'd be happy to lend a helping hand. Have a good one!
I was able to print a previous years 1099 and 1096 with a work around--- if you change the date on you Computer to the year following the year you want to print-- the 1099 wizard will work (at least at the time of this writing)-- I was able to print my 2019 1099s and 1096 just now by doing this and it is currently 7/22/21 -- we are using the desktop version of Quickbooks 2016 ... just realize, your computer will be unable to access any web pages until you change back to the current date-- Hope this helps someone out.
When I try the steps given, I get a "date range" box pop-up. It's telling me that Quickbooks supports a date range starting from January 1, 2021, when I need January 1, 2020. My accountant is requesting a copy of our 1096 Form from the year 2020. Not sure what to do now.
I've got you covered, Financer.
Form 1096 is a single transmittal form that reports all payments made to all your contractors. After you e-file, the summary form (1096) is automatically transmitted. It's basically an index or a list of the 1099s that are included in the filing.
If you're having trouble printing a copy of a 1096,then I recommend to request directly to IRS and you'll have to get in contact with them to get further instructions with printing the 1096 forms.
According to the IRS webpage, the form is provided for informational purposes only. The official printed version of this IRS form is scannable, but a copy, printed from this website is not.
You can always check this article for more information: Print a 1096 form.
