Sales tax payments

When will this QBO Plus version have auto sales tax added? I want to specify payments for one state against all the state counties. Not available to me now.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can include the automated sales tax by adding the Tax agencies first. If you're new to QuickBooks, you'll need to set up your sales tax first. Afterward, you can switch it to automated sales tax.

  1. Go to the Taxes menu located at the left navigation panel and choose Sales Tax
  2. Press Sales Tax Settings, and choose Add Agency.
  3. Fill out the necesary field.
  4. Once done, click Save.
  5. You can also customize your rates in the Custom rates section.
  6. Field out other necessary field and fill out the necessary field.

Sales tax payments

I am not able to switch to automated sales tax payments.  We just moved from QB Desktop to QB Online.  We had all of the tax agencies set up in QB Desktop. Do I need to RE set up the tax agencies in QBO to resolve sales tax issues with auto sales tax? Thank you.

Allow me to share some information about automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @greenplants.

Yes, you'll need to manually re-set up your tax agencies and then switch to automated sales tax payments. Since the tax agencies that you've set up in QBDT won't migrate to QBO.

Once you're done setting up your sales tax, here's how you can switch it to automated sales tax:

  1. Go to Taxes, then select Sales Tax.
  2. Select  Use automatic sales tax.
  3. Click Next if your business address is correct. If not, select the pencil icon to update the address.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Review the rates, then Save.
