I have spent the last two days with support trying to address issues with Sales Tax Center, and the borderline incompetence is unfathomable.
We are getting an error message that says "Sorry an error occurred" when trying to look at our tax liability so that we may file our returns. 2x chat agents were no help, and a phone agent had no clue what I was talking about. And when we screen shared, her answer was "you must already paid it....."
This forum is littered with people having the same problem, and QB does not post the resolution, only to reach out to the support that has no clue. Has anyone been able to successfully resolve this problem? I refuse to pay for features to not have them work.

I spoke to the "experts" still no resolution. I see posts on here going back to November on this issue. Is there any intent to fix it?
I am having a similar issue. The customer service people have NO CLUE. I just spent an hour on the phone with someone and they finally told me I needed to "contact your accountant". I said "what does my accountant have to do with this?". She said "I dont know".
Im not sure what to do at this point. Im very frustrated that Quickbooks changed the Sales Tax Center. The old version had worked just fine for me.
I hear you, @cgk114.
I understand how important it is for customer service to help navigate and resolve your concern with accessing the Sales Tax Center in QuickBooks Online (QBO) following the software updates. I'm here to make it up to you and help resolve the error you encounter when accessing the page.
To isolate the cause of this issue, I suggest logging in to your QBO account through your browser's incognito mode, as this could be a temporary error with the online platform.
If you can access the page without the error, proceed to clear your browser's cache. This process will remove and fix specific issues and help the program run optimally. Additionally, you can use other devices and supported browsers to ensure everything works as expected. However, if the error persists on your end, I'd recommend reaching out to our Support Team again, as the problem could stem from the account itself. This time speaking with a different representative who may be able to provide clearer guidance.
In the meantime, you can consider running a Tax Liability Report as a workaround to determine liability for each agency.

My client's sales tax center suddenly stopped working today. I spent over an hour on support call and they have NO CLUE. 8 years and suddenly it doesn't work and there is not data.
I have spent 20+ hours this year alone talking with "support" for a variety of Intuit QBO glitches. The quality of Intuit is going down rapidly.
Please let me know how I am going to file/pay my client's sales tax.ASAP
It isn't the kind of experience I'd like you to have with QuickBooks Online (QBO), Areu. I'll help you resolve the issue of your Sales tax center not working.
The stored files in your browser can cause unexpected behavior or failures in QBO.
Your cache saves the files from many websites you visit, so you can quickly load the pages the following time. The browsing speed of websites like QBO may be impacted if the cache is retaining too much data.
It's a good idea to check for issues brought on by a full cache when browsing anonymously because doing so prevents the cache from recording your browsing data. You can
perform basic troubleshooting steps by accessing the payment link via an incognito window or a private browser. This won't store cache files that cause lag to your default browser.
Feel free to follow these shortcut keys:
If the given procedures are successful, I advise you to clear the cache in your browser to avoid utilizing outdated forms, safeguard your data, and improve the performance of our programs on your computer.
If the steps above will not work, you can use supported browsers as an alternative.
If the issue persists, we have a workaround for you to resolve this issue. Please take a moment to make the switch to Automated Sales Tax:
If the issue is still the same after doing the troubleshooting steps and the recommended workaround, I recommend contacting our Customer Care team. You can request a screen-sharing session so they can investigate further the reason for this issue.

Save your breath. QBO/Intuit is UNHELPFUL!
I figured out a work around for it.
Your solutions are garbage.
A win for me, since talking to Intuit is a complete waste of the time I can use to get my jobs done.
Now at least I can pay sales tax.
I have the same problem and wasted 3 hours between 2 support people and 1 manager yesterday. It was working on Sunday. Support person 1 told me after 1 hour that QBO is FORCING all users to the new sales tax center and will not restore the old one. I expressed my extreme dissatisfaction with such a plan as there have been no notices to me as a user that this would happen. I have 7 days to do my July tax return and the state has advised my company is now under audit. I CANNOT BE CHANGING my system at this time! Manager seemed sympathetic and transferred me to support person 2 (who I think she described as a technical person, but didn't sound like it). Support person 2 bottom line is that there is a case/inquiry started, I would be added to get updates, my immediate need for this would be stated and I would get an email of what she did. None of that has happened 24 hours later.
Can you please share what you did as a work around? Thank you.
HI TMiller,
Sure:) First I verified that my last 6 months of sales tax filings and payments and 2 quarters of occupancy tax filings/payments matched the reports from QBO, so I believe what I am going to tell you is useful and accurate.
I took the total sales/total income from the P&L report (I use cash basis), I took the net taxable from the sales tax liability report and the tax due from the sales tax liability report. These were the only 3 numbers I needed to file my sales tax. I found these numbers to be accurate with what I used in my previous filings that came directly from the old Sales tax center history.
I still need to check the Balance Sheet to be sure how to enter the transaction, but that should be simple enough.
The Sales Tax Liability report is a standard report in the Reports section. I hope that helps.
I know others might have a more complicated filing and/or accounting set up, and I am happy to help more if I can.
Figuring this out for myself saved me a bunch of time I would have wasted listening to INTUIT LIE TO ME!
Hi areuorganized, would you mind sharing an update or solution if you have one? I'm having the same issue this month and while I paid my taxes on time I still cannot record it in QBO and customer service cannot help me. I was on the phone with them nearly 2 hours last week and no resolution. My payments have come though showing it deducted from my bank but I can't reconcile it (match it) because I cant record the payment in QB. So frustrating.
@cstegall HI.
I looked at where QB had posted the payments and did the same manually with a JE. Shockingly, my sale tax center page came back with all the data (except the manual entry I did). It took about 3 weeks and I am not certain that Intuit won't take it away again since they keep changing things (for an unknown reason).
I was happy about it coming back but concerned that it will happen again.
Please reach out to me again if this didn't help.
