Tax documents not emailed

None of my contractors received their 1099 although I opted for them to be electronically and physically sent. No one has received it and it’s not in their spam mail. Any idea as to why customer services of no help and of course right now today they’re closed.

1099 forms are typically mailed by January 31st, but delivery times can vary depending on the postal service and the contractor's location. Delays can occur due to various reasons such as address changes, postal processing, or temporary mail disruptions.

 

Nevertheless, electronic delivery ensures that the contractors have consented to receive their forms electronically. If they did not accept e-delivery, the service has defaulted to mailing paper copies after a waiting period. 

 

Additionally, I suggest checking the status of your 1099 form in your QuickBooks Online account to verify successful delivery. I'll show you how:

 

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select 1099 filings.
  3. Review the e-filing status:
    • Not Submitted - means forms haven't been filed with the IRS
    • Submitted - indicates forms have been e-filed
    • Received by IRS - means the IRS is processing or has approved the forms

My colleague above is correct that 1099 forms are typically mailed by January 31st, depending on the postal service and the contractor's location. This may show a mailed status in the application, however, it still depends on the contractor's location and how swiftly the postal service mails the forms.

My main concern is, if they are mailed on the 31st is fine, but they were to be emailed as well and no one has received via email.. So I paid for a product that was not delivered, as none of the contractors received their electronic version of 1099’s. I guess I’ll have to manually send?

When 1099s are e-filed, we email the contractors, inviting them to log in or create a QuickBooks (QB) login to download their 1099 form securely. Make sure that the email information they entered is accurate or updated. Contractors without a QB account will start receiving emails from January 31st to February 15th.

Did you ever get an answer to this? Can anybody tell us which email address the forms or access to the forms would come from? I'm having the same issue.

Once the 1099 forms have been printed and sent out by mail, contractors need anticipation to receive them automatically at their designated mailing addresses. Also, we're diligently facilitating the electronic delivery of these forms, ensuring they are emailed within a few days.

 

Additionally, contractors who have, or are willing to set up, a QuickBooks Money or QuickBooks Self-Employed account can access their 1099 forms online immediately. This feature eliminates the wait for an email notification and streamlines the process of obtaining the 1099 form.

What email address will the 1099 notification come from?

If the contractor does NOT have a QuickBooks Money or QuickBooks Self-employed account, when will their emails start to be disseminated?

@Sheila Schroyer  The underlying message from the staff here appears to be that, rather than actually transmitting the 1099s over e-mail, contractors are simply given reminders to create a QB account and download the 1099s from QB directly.

 

At least, I'd hope that's what they're saying; it would be quite stupid of them to directly send sensitive documents like that over something as insecure as an e-mail.

The 1099 notification will be sent from an email address within the INTUIT domain. To guarantee the receipt of important communications, please add these specific email addresses to your email account's safe sender list. For detailed information, refer to this article: Receive important email messages from Intuit.

 

Additionally, contractors seeking to access a digital copy of their e-filed 1099 must do so via the QuickBooks Money portal. If your contractor has already been invited to create a complimentary QuickBooks Money account to submit their W-9 information, they will be notified to log in and view their accepted 1099s once the IRS has processed the e-filed form successfully.

 

Once your employer or client has filed your 1099 with the IRS, you will receive an email notification that it is available for download. Click the link in the email to access QuickBooks Money. To view or print your 1099 you need to log in to QuickBooks Money and then navigate to the Incoming Forms menu.
