Transitioning can be challenging, especially when it involves crucial aspects like backing up your essential business data, @1984s. I appreciate you sharing your experience moving from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO). I understand adjusting to new ways of managing your files can require time and effort, and I want to ensure that I give some insights to help make this transition smoother.

To begin, please know that QBO handles data security differently than QBDT. While the desktop version allows you to create manual backups, the online version backs up your data continuously and automatically, as it operates in the cloud. You can rest assured that your critical data will always be backed up securely regardless of the edition you use β€” whether it's Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, or Advanced. For more information, please refer to this article: QuickBooks Online Security

In addition to these automatic measures, QBO Advanced allows you to manually back up your data through its Online Back-up and Restore enabling you to roll back changes made in your company file, copy accounting data from one company to another, or export it to your cloud storage using your Google Drive. Here's what it looks like in the QBO Advanced account:

To learn more about this, I'm adding this article as a reference: Back up and restore your QuickBooks Online Advanced Company.

Once you're assured of your data security, check out the different terms QBO uses for menu options, features, lists, items, transaction types, reports, and other labels. You can learn them here: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

We're here to support you during this transition and ensure your information remains safe. If you need assistance or clarification on managing data backups with QBO, feel free to click the Reply button.
