Thank you for getting back to us here on the Community page, @kgardner.

Allow me to share additional information about saving a file for an accountant in QuickBooks.

As mentioned by MadelynC above, there isn't an Accountant's Copy feature available yet with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac. This could the reason why you're getting this error message. For now, you can talk with your accountant for more options. Or, you can export the file to QBDT for Windows and send your accountant the Window format QBB file so your accountant can wok with it, then return the file to you when done. This is called round-tripping.

For your guide and more details about this, check out the details from this link: Convert a QuickBooks for Mac file to QuickBooks for Windows.

Also, you can reach out with our Support Team if you need thorough assistance when converting your file. o contact support:

  1. Open this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact, then select QuickBooks Desktop for Mac as your product.
  2. Tap on the Search for something else button, then enter a short description of your concern from the field provided and click Search.
  3. Choose a way to connect with a representative.

Moreover, feel free to read the topics from our QBDT for Mac user guide as your references while working with QuickBooks in the future.

Post again if you have any other questions, @kgardner. I'm always here to help. Keep safe always!
