Invoices that work as hard as you do

Send smart invoices that get you paid faster

Make it easier for your customers to pay

Adding a Pay Now button directly in your invoices lets your customers pay by credit card in just a couple of clicks.

Get alerts as customers view and pay

Real-time alerts will keep you notified about your payments, and reminders sent to your customers will let them know a payment is due.

Take on bigger jobs with progress invoicing

Instead of taking a deposit before you start a job and a payment after you finish, you can invoice as you hit milestones of your project and get paid as you go.

Create professional, customized invoices

Put a personal touch on your invoice

Start with modern templates, choose the font and accent colours, and then add your logo to make getting paid look better than ever.

Set your customer’s language preference

Send invoices to your customers in their language, including English, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese (Traditional), and Portuguese.

Easily set up and use multi-currency

It’s simple to send invoices in different currencies and assign specific currency types to most types of accounts, including customers, vendors, and more.

Get time on your side with automated invoicing

Set up automatic invoices

Just set it and forget it–schedule recurring invoices to be sent out and QuickBooks will do the work so you don’t have to.

Enjoy instant payment matching

When an invoice is paid, QuickBooks automatically matches the payment with the invoice in your books to save you time and keep everything updated.

Let us do the sales tax

When creating invoices, the sales tax will be automatically calculated for you, and we’ll keep track of how much you’re earning and owing.

Everything you need to send invoices on the go

Invoice anytime, anywhere1

Bill your clients, track your invoices and monitor your payments wherever you go–right from the QuickBooks app on your mobile device.

Turn estimates into invoices

Add billable expenses in seconds

Incurred an extra cost while doing a job for your customer? Just link the billable expense to their invoice and make that money back in no time.

Frequently Asked Questions

QuickBooks makes creating invoices as easy as possible with template options and saved preferences—check out our step-by-step instructions to see how simple it can be.

Your invoice should include the following information:

  • Itemized descriptions of each billable item: Whether you sell services or products, it is crucial that your invoice includes a clear description of each billable item, its price, and quantity.
  • Contact information: It’s crucial to include the contact information for your business and the customer you are billing. Include their full name, address, and telephone number.
  • Terms of payment: This outlines when the payment is due–see recommended terms of payment FAQ.
  • Accepted payment methods Whether you accept payments via cheque, credit card or e-transfer, it’s important to let your customers know how to pay you.
  • GST/HST: In Canada, you are required to let your customers know when GST/HST is applied to their purchase and the cost of the tax.
It’s essential to have an efficient invoicing process to get paid by clients on time–for helpful tips, tricks, and process hints, check out these insightful invoicing resources.
Mobile invoicing allows you to send your clients the bill on the go, saving you time and helping you get paid faster.
After a customer uses the Pay Now button in your invoice and pays using their credit card, you’ll both receive a confirmation email. Your books will update to show the invoice has been paid, and usually 2 business days later when the funds have settled, your money will be marked as deposited in your bank.

Discussing payment terms with your customers in advance can help you get paid on time–here are some common invoice payment terms:

Prepayment: You can ask clients to prepay a percentage of your fee in advance to prevent cancellations.

Due upon receipt: This payment term requires payment immediately after products or services are delivered.
50% upfront: This suggests half the payment is due prior to services starting.
Net 10, 15, 30, 60, or 90: These terms refer to the number of days in which an invoice is due once it’s received.
