Can I connect Quickbooks (simple start plan) to my Biz Venmo account

Hi Nicky.

Yes, you can connect your Biz Venmo account into QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start. I'm here to guide you with the detailed steps.

  1. Open your QBO account, then click on Banking at the left pane.
  2. Go to the Banking page, then click on Connect account or Link account (if you have existing bank connected).
  3. Search and select Venmo.
  4. Input the login credentials, then follow the onscreen pop-ups to complete the process.

Here's an article you can read more about adding accounts to download recent transactions automatically: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

After QuickBooks downloads transactions, you need to approve and categorized them. Here's how: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you need more help with connecting QuickBooks and Biz Venmo, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to provide additional assistance. Keep safe!

I have already gotten that far.  When I enter my venmo credentials, the only account that shows up is my personal account. I need to link my business account.  How do I do this?

Welcome back, @nicky-zabetian-c.

You may have the same credentials on your personal and business Venmo account. That's why QuickBooks is only reading your personal account after connecting it.

To ensure you can connect your business Venmo account, you'll want to contact your financial institution to separate the login credentials for your personal and business account.

Once the credentials are separated, you can now connect your business Venmo account using the correct login credentials. For more guidance, feel free to check out this article: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

After connecting your business account, your bank transactions will automatically be downloaded in QuickBooks. You might also want to read this article to learn how to review them: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Should you need any additional assistance connecting your bank accounts in QuickBooks, you can leave a comment below. I'll be sure to get back to you.

This is incorrect information. Venmo does not allow separating business and personal accounts into separate logins, unless you happen to have a second mobile phone line.

Thank you for joining the thread, @rowhoss.

I'll share insights about connecting QuickBooks to a Business Venmo account.

Venmo only allows the personal account to connect to QuickBooks. However, I'd still suggest reaching out to Venmo and submit a request for your business account to be included with the QBO connection.

In the meantime, you can manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to review these handy articles:

After that, you'll learn how to review downloaded transactions and put them into an account correctly, and set up bank rules in QBO.

You're welcome in the Community. Just leave a comment below if you have further questions about QuickBooks and bank connectivity. Take care always!

We can try other troubleshooting steps to connect your bank account, Dayalexa.

The Banking error 102 you're prompted with means that your bank may have maintenance or have server issues. This can stop the online bank connection to QuickBooks. You can visit your bank's website to verify. You can also look for any messages, notifications, or alerts that can help you check if something isn't working.

If there are no issues on your bank's end, you'll want to connect the Biz Venmo account using a private browser. There are times that the browser stores frequently accessed data, thus causing websites, like QuickBooks Online, to perform unexpected behaviors. To use a private browser, here's how:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N on your keyboard for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
  • Press Command + Shift + N for Safari.

Once logged in, try connecting the account again. I suggest copying and pasting the bank's URL when connecting it to ensure that it's the correct bank. If this works, it means that you need to clear the browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to a different one.

Once your bank is connected, you can then categorize the transactions in your bank feeds.

Leave a post below if you have other questions about handling your bank downloaded transactions. I'm just a few clicks away. Have a nice day!

Thanks for joining us here, @ronsa007-gmail-c.

I've checked my resources and found no reported cases about users unable to connect Vermo and QuickBooks.

You'll want to check for a third-party application as mentioned by our Allstar @Fiat Lux - ASIA or create your other account as a sub-account. Before adding it as a sub-account, I recommend consulting with an accountant to make sure you're recording your transactions accordingly.

Here's how to create a sub-account:

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Select New. Tick the Is sub-account box and then enter the parent account.
  4. Give your new subaccount a name and fill in other info.
  5. Click Save and Close.

However, if you don't want to create a sub-account, you can manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online. This way, you're able to match and reconcile your Venmo transactions with QuickBooks.

Please know that you're always welcome to reply to this thread if you have follow-up questions or concerns with Vermo and QuickBooks accounts. I'm more than happy to assist you. Have a wonderful day ahead.

Can I connect Quickbooks (simple start plan) to my Biz Venmo account

Hey, Thank you for your quick response.

My issue is with the Venmo business account; the QB online does not recognize my Venmo Business, only my private one.

I'm searching all over the web to get a solution; I've seen people from last year have had the same issues.

*On QB online, when I'm connecting a new bank account, I already see my Venmo Private account; I need to activate my Business account.

How do I activate my Business Venmo Account to QB online?

I appreciate your help (:

Can I connect Quickbooks (simple start plan) to my Biz Venmo account

Thanks for actively responding, @ronsa007-gmail-c. I'm here to help figure out and activate your Venmo Business account to QuickBooks.

There are various reasons for connecting to your bank account. It could be one of these following:

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure you are using the correct listing.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

Let's start by logging in to your Venmo business account from your financial institution (FI) website, then copy the FI's URL link. Then, follow these steps below:

  1. Sign out of the FI website.
  2. Go back to QuickBooks and paste it to search it on the banking page.
  3. Continue to add the account in QuickBooks Online.

For further insights, check out this article: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

Once connected, you can now review and categorize downloaded transactions in QuickBooks.

I'll be here to guide you some more with your banking concerns. Keep in touch if you have additional questions.

I can help you in resolving the error you're having to connect your account, @katarina2.

Can you tell me more about the error you're having when trying to connect your Venmo account? That'll help us get the best resolution for the error you're having.

Also, please be notified that Venmo will only allow you to connect your personal account. In the meantime, you'll want to manually upload your Venmo business transactions.

You’ll have to manually download the transactions from the bank. Then, upload the file to your account.

Download bank transactions:

  1. Go to your online banking account to get your file.
  2. Check or follow your bank’s instructions to get a copy of the data and then save it on your computer.
  3. Ensure that the data range is at least one day before your oldest transaction to avoid duplicates.
  4. Please take note of the supported file format and size. It should be either a Comma-Separated Values (CSV) or a QuickBooks Online (QBO) file.
  5. Download your transactions and save the file to your desktop.

To upload the file to your QuickBooks account:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select the bank where you’re uploading the transactions from the Banking tab.
  2. Click the Link account drop-down and select Upload from file
  3. On the window that appears, click the Browse button and choose the file that you’ll be downloading.
  4. Click on Open, then Next.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions. Match the columns on the file with the banking fields in QuickBooks, then select Next.
  6. Click on Let's go. QuickBooks will now add the transactions to your account.

Check these articles for more information about sending a request to support your bank and adding your bank transactions manually:

After adding your transactions, you can now match and categorize those transactions and reconcile them to ensure your books are accurate and there aren't any duplicate transactions:

If you have other questions about connecting your accounts and transactions, I'm happy to answer them for you. Just post it here as a reply and I'll take a look at it. Have a good one!

Hi Katarina,

I see that this is quite a long thread, and thanks for joining in. I would like to clarify to everyone that currently, only personal Venmo accounts can be connected to QuickBooks.

For your business account, you can log in to Venmo and download your transactions to a CSV file. Then, upload them to the Banking page in QuickBooks, and yes, this was what MaryJoy meant. Just format your CSV to successfully upload your transactions.

Here are some articles for your reference:

On the other hand, please feel free to submit feedback about enabling a connection to business accounts because I know it can make your work easier. Just click on the Gear icon and select Feedback. You can also suggest this to Venmo because enabling this option is a decision that can be made between them and Intuit. Therefore, the more requests we or they get, the higher the chance of making this possible.

I'm just around if you need further assistance with handling your transactions in QuickBooks Online. Take good care always, Katarina!

Has there been a solution to connect Venmo business accounts automatically yet?  I know that you can download statements but that is very time-consuming.

Thank you.
