card reader for desktop

We too have tried everything to get credit cards to swipe through to the desktop.  While Notepad shows that the card reader is actually reading the card, Quickbooks does not show the card as read.  I believe no solution is being provided because Intuit Merchant Services is benefiting from the error by being able to charge transactions higher fees because they are then required to be handkeyed.

Further, the issue does not lie in the cardreader.  We have readers provided by QB and also from Amazon.  Neither readers will show a swipe in QB, but show the swiped information perfectly in Notepad.

card reader for desktop

It's May 2023, and I am still looking for an option to take a payment with my computer and not a cell phone app.  I've talked to Merchant Services, Small Business Consultants, 6 people in total.  They just keep transferring me to the next person.  If any of them does have an answer, it is only that we buy the mobile card reader.  When I say I want it to connect to the computer not my phone, they seem stumped.  How is it this difficult?  This seems like a simple request, and something that was once available.  It is costing us 1% more to type the card in, and that adds up fast!  This level of customer service is completely unacceptable.

Hello there! I appreciate you reaching out to the Community thread. Thanks for submitting your detailed concern, and I hear your sentiments,

bmarinecontroller.

I understand the relevance of efficient payment processing to your business operations. The payment option you stated is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround, you can look for a card reader and a third-party software connector to process your e-payment transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click Apps from the left panel of your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Find Apps tab.
  3. Enter the keyword to look for an app in the search bar.
  4. Select an app from the list.
