Chart of accounts from a company to another

Hello there, trabun.

Please note that directly copying a chart of accounts from Essentials to Simple Start in QuickBooks is currently unavailable. You'll have to manually export them from one company and import them to another. I'll walk you through the steps so you can achieve this procedure.

To begin, I recommend running and exporting the Account List report from the Essential company. This includes all of your accounts in the program.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu at the left panel.
  2. Search for Account List.
  3. Click the Export icon, then select Export to Excel.

After that, read this article to learn how to import COA into the Simple Start company file: Import your chart of accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can also visit our Apps center so you're able to see hundreds of apps that you can integrate into QuickBooks. This way, it'll help you copy a chart of accounts from a company on essentials to a different company on a simple start instantly.

In case you need steps on how to add a subaccount under a parent account to let you break down your income, expenses, and other account types, you can refer to this article: Create subaccounts in your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Leave a comment below if you have other questions about managing your COA list in QBO. I'm always here to help you accomplish your needs, trabun. Have a great day!
