Is it possible to change an account to a sub-account after it has been created?
Yes, open the chart of accounts, edit the account and set it to sub account. BUT the parent MUST be the same type of account
I tried that but it is greyed out.
Thanks for getting back to us, @aquinones.

Once done, reboot your computer and then log in as the QuickBooks Admin. Go back to the Chart of Accounts and then edit the account again.

Thank you for getting back, @aquinones. I'm stepping into the thread to share some additional resolutions so you can convert your account into a sub-account.
I can see from the attachment you've added that the Subaccount of field is grayed out and you don't have the option to select a parent account from the drop-down. The main factor affecting this issue is due to restricted access to the said feature. Before modifying the account, please make sure to open your file as a master admin or user access with rights to edit the accounts from the Chart of Accounts.
From there, follow the same steps to update your account.
If you're getting the same result after opening your file as an admin, I would suggest updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to fix the common issues within your file. You may also connect with our Support Team to isolate the issue. A live representative can look into your account securely and review the root cause of the error.

Are you able to change multiple accounts as a sub account at one time or in an import?
It's good to see you here in the Community, @HI2023.
At this time, there isn't a way to change multiple accounts into sub-account at one-time or import them.
I understand that this option can save you time going through each of the accounts. However, QuickBooks only allows you to change parent accounts into sub-account one at a time.
For now, I suggest submitting feedback directly to our product engineers. They may look into this suggestion further and consider adding an option to change multiple accounts into sub-account at one-time. To submit feedback, you can follow the steps below:
