Delete reconcilation report

Glad to see you here in the Community forum, @john169.

At this time, deleting a reconciliation report is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). As a workaround, you can undo each transaction manually in that reconciliation report. Doing so the reconciled transactions will be removed from the completed reconciliation.

To do this task here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top and pick Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the account.
  3. From the Action column, select View Register (or Account History).
  4. Choose the transaction to edit.
  5. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a checkmark), repeatedly click on the box until it changes from "R" to blank.
  6. Hit Save.

You can also ask assistance from your accountant so they could undo reconciliation.

For more details about this process, take a look at this article: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

Delete reconcilation report

My problem is I put the wrong year of reconciliation which have to be 2019 but I key 2020. Then I redo reconciliation with the right year follow the step as QB. However, the 2020 reconciliation still show in the summary of reconciliation report. What should I do to delete the wrong reconciliation? Still in the reconciliation history it doesn't show the 2020.
Thank you.

Thank you for joining this thread, @Sunnietimes.

The option to delete a reconciliation report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is currently unavailable. To resolve this, you'll need to manually undo each transaction in that reconciliation report. To do so, please follow the steps provided by my colleague, MiriamM.

You'll need to view the report to see those reconciled transactions and to have a guide on which ones to undo.

When you're ready to reconcile the bank account again, you can check out this article for the step by step process: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to let us know if you need more assistance with this. Have a good one.

Delete reconcilation report

I just finished a reconciliation for a CC and realized that I had put in the ending date for 2021 instead of 2020. I don't know how to change the date on the reconcilation. I already corrected the dates on the expences, etc. as I entered them in at the same time, but I can't change the ending date to 2020. Is there a way to delete a reconcilation?

How can I undo a reconcilation so I can change the year! I put in 2021 instead of 2020 as the end date.

Hello there, @Kerrysart. Welcome to the Community.

I'm here to share details about correcting a reconciliation end date in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, you can keep your financial data accurate.

Currently, there isn't an option to change the end date when you've already finished a reconciliation. However, you can choose either of the following on how to handle your reconciliation end date in QBO:

  • You can leave the ending date as it is. Just make sure to select the correct Ending date in your next reconciliation. (an incorrect date doesn't affect any balances and will not prevent you from future reconciliation).
  • Undo the reconciliation and then reconcile again with the correct ending date.

In case you opt to undo the reconciliation, you'll have to manually edit the status of each transaction one at a time. However, if you've invited an accountant to your company, they have the option to undo the entire reconciliation. To manually undo reconciliation in QBO, here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the account, then select View register under the Action column.
  4. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  5. Click the letter "R" under the Reconciliation or Check column until it shows blank.
  6. Select Save and then click Yes to confirm the modification.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last three steps.

Whenever you're ready to reconcile again, you can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It also includes details about reviewing past reconciliations.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have other reconciliation concerns in QBO. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
