How can delete reconciliation report

Good day, @cflbakery.

Currently, there isn’t an option to delete a reconciliation report. As a workaround, we can manually undo each transaction in that reconciliation report.

Here’s how:

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click on the account in question.
  4. From the Action column, select View Register (or Account History).
  5. Select the transaction to edit.
  6. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a check mark), repeatedly click on the box until it changes from "R" to blank.
  7. Select Save.

To add, you can seek help from your accountant and get your reconciliation undone. If you already have an accountant added to your account, he/she can undo your reconciliation for you.

Please feel free to read this article for more details: How to Unreconcile a Transaction or Undo a Reconciliation.

How can delete reconciliation report

I want to start fresh and delete the last three conciliation reports.  How can I do that?

I have already marked each of the transactions in Chart of Accounts, under chequing, as un reconciled.... the space has been left blank.

How do I go back and start a new reconciliation from January 2020?

Thanks, Azim

How can delete reconciliation report

Good evening, @azim - Vancovuer BC.

I hope you're having a successful week so far. Thank you for providing an update on deleting your reconciliations.

Since you manually unreconciled your transactions, you can go to the Accounting tab, choose Reconcile, and start your reconciliation from January 2020.

However, if QuickBooks still recognized your transactions as reconciled, then you'll need to get in touch with your accountant. They'll be able to undo all the reconciles so you can truly have a fresh start with your books. The articles provided by my colleague @DarellA above will give you more information on the accountant features.

Feel free to reply below if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm always here to lend a helping hand.

How can delete reconciliation report

Thanks for your suggestions.  I do not use an account nor do I need one.  Is there a way to delete them without an accountant.  Can I be an account and go in myself?  Thanks again.

How can delete reconciliation report

Thanks for your prompt response, @azim - Vancovuer BC.

Right now, the option to delete the reconciliation reports is unavailable. Alternatively, we can manually undo each transaction in that reconciliation report.

This way, the reconciled transactions will be removed from the completed reconciliation.

Here’s how:

  1. Select the Gear icon and then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click on the account in question.
  3. From the Action column, select View Register (or Account History).
  4. Select the transaction to edit.
  5. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a checkmark), repeatedly click on the box until it changes from "R" to blank.
  6. Select Save.

For more details about unreconciling and removing an individual transaction from a completed reconciliation, you can refer to this article: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to tag me (@Jovychris_A) if you need further assistance. I'll be around to help. Stay safe and well!

I don't need to change a transaction in the reconciliation report, I need to change the ending date.

How can delete reconciliation report

Hello there, Frank4569.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we're unable to change the statement ending date once the reconciliation is done. You can manually undo the reconciliation of each transaction and then reconcile with the correct statement ending date. However, if you're still in the middle of reconciling your transactions, you can edit the ending date at the upper-right.

If you have an accountant using QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can invite them and let them undo the reconciliation at once

For more details about how our reconciliation works, you can use this link: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

How can delete reconciliation report

Why does it require an accountant to change a reconciliation?  Why can't I do that myself?  I run my own business, make all the important decisions myself.  How is it that QBO has figured I can't make the decision to undo a reconciliation myself but my (non-existent) accountant can.  Flash all of the warnings and cautions and confirmation dialog boxes.  But then let ME decide to do that myself.  Yet another idiocy of this software that I wish I had the time extricate myself from.

This is not the impression we want you to have when undoing reconciliation, @MichaelAparicio

To entirely undo a reconciliation, only accountants who use QuickBooks Online Accountant can perform the process. This is because the software has the necessary tools for an accountant to ensure the recordings are accurate and balanced.

If you know which transaction you need to change, you can unreconciled an individual transaction from a completed reconciliation.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Choose the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Locate the account that has the reconciled transaction and then click View register.
  4. Find the transaction. If the transaction is reconciled, you’ll see an in the checkmark ✔ column.

  5. Click the transaction to expand the view.
  6. In the checkmark ✔ column, choose the box with the until the box is blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation.
  7. Click Save and close the account register.

For additional information, you may also check out this article: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations.

Once done, you can redo the reconciliation. This way, your accounts always match your bank and credit card statements.

That should do it! Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment on this thread. I'd be glad to answer if you have any follow-up questions or concerns. Take care and have a good one.

How can delete reconciliation report

Why in the world is there no option to clear a prior reconciliation report??  This is asinine.  I entered transactions as "transfers" from my law firm's trust account but this screwed up my trust account liabilities, but because you cannot edit a "transfer" into a "expense" I had to delete the transactions and redo them.  Now my reports are all screwed up and need to be re-reconciled.  But no, you all want me to either pay for the accountants version or pay an accountant to undo a report that I run.

THIS KIND OF MENTALITY IS WHAT KILLS SMALL BUSINESSES, BUT CORPORATIONS LIKE INTUIT DO NOT CARE!  You make software unnecessarily complex and then put us in a situation where we have to pay someone else to fix it when there should be an easy fix right in the software.

I made an error in entering the starting balance, I need to edit that.  You say I can't undo a reconciliation, I don't have an accountant to do this for me.  WHY can't we edit the starting amount?  You need to change this.

How can delete reconciliation report

Hi maria94,

Hope you're having a good day!

We're unable to remove a reconciliation report. It will always stay in your records even if you redo your reconciliaton for a particular month.

On the other hand, if you want to see some references for QBO, you can visit the main support page, scroll down a bit, and click More topics.

If you have any other concern about reconciliation, feel free to go back to this thread.

How can delete reconciliation report

I un-reconciled the transactions in the account I want to fix, back a few months before the last reconciliation was done.  Now, I enter in the end date from a couple months previous to the last reconciliation. However, the beginning balance is not correct, it shows the beginning balance from what seems to be the last reconciliation report.  Seems the only thing I can probably do is reconcile from the last date of reconciliation.  This means I have to handle months of data at one / multiple statements, that sucks!

It should take the balance of the last reconciled record as the new balance for the reconciliation when it is attempted after modifying the transactions.

I took the 2 hours to un-reconcile each transaction and (a couple hundred). An now the system cannot realize that it needs to go back to a previous beginning balance.  Not cool.  We shouldn't need an accountant to do this, this should be a straight forward process, just wanting to redo a reconciliation.

How can delete reconciliation report

Agreed.

It's ludicrous you cannot delete a reconciliation report.

It's ludicrous you cannot bulk-undo reconciliations.

It's ludicrous I pay for this software but I need an accountant to access features, even though I don't have an accountant. Surely it is my choice whether I want that power or not?

It's also stupid you cannot remove accounts once created.

Quickbooks is awful, its a shame there isn't yet a decent alternative, but I hope someone makes one soon.

How can delete reconciliation report

Hi there, @bb2016.

I recognize the importance of deleting your reconciliation report in bulk, as this makes your work easier. As of now, we don't have a specific date as to when this feature will be available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

It is always our aim to develop relevant features that came from customer's feedback. As a team with a massive roadmap, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible.

You'd be glad to know that you can send feedback about the feature you wish to have with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

This way, our Product Developer team can have a look and review it. There are always open for opinions as this helps improve our product to suits your business needs. To send feedback, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

You can also see this link for more details: How do I submit feedback?

For more details about how our reconciliation works, you can use this link: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

To view and export the report, please read this article for your guide: How do I view, print, or export a reconciliation report?

Please touch base with us if you have any concerns and questions regarding your reconciliation. As always, we're here to ensure that you'll get the help you need.

How can delete reconciliation report

Maybe the solution for QBO is to create a paid add-on to allow regular users to delete reconciliation reports.  That way QBO could plaster the ads all over every page of the software for weeks and months on end without any way to turn it off.  If QBO could monetize it, it would be built out in 2 or three days, I'm sure.  Oh, wait, I just realized it does exist, only you have to pay the accountant version to access it.  No accountant? Out of luck, sorry!

I had this exact issue one year ago, and now today it popped its ugly head up again.  I spent another 4 hours today un-reconciling entries--one by one--due to one error months ago that I was able to locate quite easily, but it threw everything off for all the months of reconciliations.

If only there was an easy way to select more than one reconciliation at a time.

If only there was an easy way to just delete a few months' worth of reconciliations and start over.

If only there was a way to start fresh months after a problem entry, with accurate data from bank statements.

Wholeheartedly agree with everyone in this thread that it's absolutely ridiculous that a non-"Accountant" role can't undo a recon.  The average QBO user is allowed to edit, delete or otherwise mess with any transaction they want...even transactions in historical Financial Periods.  These actions could potentially can cause catastrophic damage to ones financial records...but Intuit draws the line at undoing/redoing an account reconciliation?  Nonsense.  QBO has decent usability, but it's woefully lacking in common sense features typical in financial software

My advice...Use a different email address and add yourself as an "Accountant".  It's utter tosh that we should have to do it, but it seems to be the only option Intuit has for us.

If you are allowed to make a reconciliation, you should not be disallowed to remove it! Period.

There is no rationale behind lack of access to a non-destructive feature.

I thought I was paying for the services to organize my data. Turns out I also got a big brother as a bonus for my money who slaps me by my hands where and when I cannot be trusted.

It would be much easier for me to understand if the whole feature would not be available to me. But being able to do things that screw up the report and not being able to able to undo the report is lame and gives a very clear non-positive image to the company. Shame on you QB.

To follow the advice from Intuit, I would need to change 594 transactions for one month. I agree that this is not appropriate that a user cannot undo a reconciliation.

Check our Xero, it's much less costly and doesn't have all these garbage restrictions that Quickbooks has. We're definitely migrating when business slows down and we have the time.

Quickbooks/Intuit has been ignoring this issue for years. They seem to love the torture, torment, and money from their customers.
