Hi suzanne23,
You'll want to ensure that you have a current version of QuickBooks Desktop Payroll and updated billing information, so you can reactivate the payroll.
To reactivate payroll inside your QuickBooks company file:
- Choose My Payroll Service from the Employees menu and select Account/Billing Information.
- Sign in using your Intuit Account.
- In the Service Information section, click on the Reactivate link next to your service status.
- Select your payroll service and click on Proceed to Checkout.
- Choose a Payment Method, you can update or add your payment information. Then, select Submit.
- Click on Place Order.
- Select Next and click on Return to QuickBooks.
Now, let's verify that your service is active by signing back in. Go back to the Account/Billing Information page and check the Service Status.
Otherwise, reactivate payroll service key. I'll show you how.
- From the Employees menu, choose My Payroll Service and select Manage Service Key.
- Click on Edit and select Next.
- Uncheck the Open Payroll Setup - I want to start right box.
