Let me share some insights about QuickBooks plans and subscriptions.
One of my colleagues, @ChristieAnn, mentioned that QuickBooks offers a 30-day free trial for each version of QuickBooks Online. You can use all the features available for each plan and decide if you want to continue using it. There will be no charge unless you confirm to continue with the subscription.
As Fiat Lux - Asia above, QB Online Accountant is a free QB Online edition.
You can also compare the plans and features available before deciding what to try.

Of course not. Intuit/ QB is FAR too greedy for that.
(Someone will be along shortly to comment about there being a free version. What they are telling you is to utilize the free TRIAL of the product, after which, you will have to subscribe)
Hi there, sanctuaryc-fisca.
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be providing some details about subscribing to QuickBooks Online and the details about the free version that you can use.
Yes, there's a free QuickBooks account that you can test out. I suggest utilizing our QuickBooks Online trial version which is good for 30 days. If you wish to continue using it, you can subscribe anytime. Just enter a valid credit card for authorization to achieve that. Then, you'll be charged the current fee for the services you've selected.
You can always check your Account and Settings section on how many days you have left until the trial expires to ensure your account stays active.
Here's how:
Then, to subscribe to the program, you'll just have to click the Subscribe button. Enter your credit card information and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. We can also click the Subscribe now link at the top of your Home page.
Additionally, you can use a test drive of QuickBooks Online by using our sample company demo so that you can explore features and the options that you're not comfortable trying in a live QuickBooks account. Feel free to experiment with the test drive since the demo system doesn't save any of the changes you make. Please open this link for the test drive: https://qbo.intuit.com/redir/testdrive.
I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.

I could say QB Online Accountant version is a free version of QB Online. Explore it if you don't mind to utilize it for your company.
So. To Re-iterate. " Of course not. Intuit/ QB is FAR too greedy for that. "

Your response just explains that there is not a free version of the software. Trying to mask that fact is disingenuous and shady.

HAHAHA, as predicted, the bot showed up with the free trial copy/paste
Any specific concern? If you are looking for a free app, another app offers a free plan for businesses with revenue <50K USD per annum.
This disingenuous answer says it all about Quickbooks as a company. There is no FREE product. There is a 30 day trial version at best. I had bought a Quickbooks2016 desktop and some time later they yanked the bank transaction import feature from my installed product and demanded a hefty annual fee to reinstate it. In other words, they took back a feature I had already paid for and demanded more money. It's like you bought a car and later the dealer took back a wheel and demanded extra payment. Looking for a synonym for "slease"?
I don't mean just a free trial --- I mean a less expensive per month or free subscription. My business is very simple ---- I send invoices, I get paid. No payroll. Income less than $50,000 per year.
Upon further review, it appears that your question has already been addressed, @jjfrannie.
I wanted to share a direct link to that conversation where my colleague provided a detailed response: Re: Is there a less-expensive alternative for my monthly subscription? The rate is going up to $3......
