Asset sale of part of my company - can I "clean" my books of all numbers, but keep vendors and customer data intact?

I am selling part of my company services to another party...an "asset sale". I would like to give them a QB file that they can use that has zero balances all across the board, as they will be a brand new company but since they are buying my customer database and will have almost all of the same vendors, it would be great to give them a QB file set up and ready as a new company, but with the vendors and customer list intact.

What's the easiest way to do this? They have their own QB ready to go...I have QB 2019 software on my computer, so not the online version.

Thanks

Under the file menu>utilities you can export lists, those contain no transactions

then create a new file and import those lists, create a back up and give them the back up file

@dswood1

Run the Condense Data utility to remove all of your transactions and you will get a new blank company file with the same CoA + Lists - Transactions. Then the new owner can still purchase a new one time license of QB Desktop 2021 to open it.

Thank you...however I need to be sure t keep my current QB data intact...can I run a company back up and save it as a different name, and THEN run the condense utility and give them THAT file?

Thank you...when those lists are exported, what is contained in them?  All the data with the exception of the actual sales, expenses etc? And when they import, they would have essentially a zero balance company, but set up the same way as my current company with same vendors, charts of account etc?

Thank you for following up, dswood1.

It's a good idea to create a backup and use the condense utility tool to reduce your company file. However, there are certain transactions that can't be remove. Here's an article that you can check before you start condensing your file: Use the Condense Data utility

I'd also agree on what Rustler suggested, creating a whole new file and import those lists of information from your company file. You can export and  import lists of iiiF files as Customers and customer:jobs, and Vendors. You can visit this page and learn more about the export and import process: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

I'm adding these links just in case you'll try to use the Condense tool to repair a damage file but is unsuccessful:
