Bill to on different line than invoice details

25 Govenor 1085.jpgInvoice 1077- 15 palmview Dr.jpg

Hi, This is my first post so I hope it looks okay and makes sense. I uploaded two invoices (with redacted info). The issue I am having is the invoice details appearing on the next line in Invoice 1085, compared to Invoice 1077, both above. I do not know why this began happening, but it now makes some of my invoices two pages, where they were always one page before. Please tell me how to revert this so that invoice details is on the same line as "Bill To" and "Ship To"

Bill to on different line than invoice details

Welcome to the Community, @ryanpools

I can share some information about invoice templates.

Try to check the invoice format that you set for these invoices. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and click on Invoices.
  2. Find and click the invoice.
  3. Select the Customize button at the bottom of the page.
  4. Take note of the invoice template of the invoices and verify if you're using the same template.
  5. Update if necessary.

I also suggest going to the Custom Form Styles page, to check the margin.

  1. Go to the Gear icon () and select Custom form styles.
  2. Click the Design tab and choose the Edit print settings.
  3. Adjust the Page margins.
  4. Click on Done.

You can check this article for more information about personalizing and adding specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

In case, you're using the same invoice template for both invoices, I suggest clearing your cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. Restart your browser right after.

Once you receive customer payments, here's how to record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Bill to on different line than invoice details

Hi,

I'd like to keep my same invoice style, but it seems like I can't make the adjustments I want. Under "design" when I have an invoice open, it says the recommended template (also the default template) is modern, but it looks nothing like the invoice style I currently have. I added photos of what the "modern" design looks like, but my invoice looks like the screenshots in the original post. editing margins also didn't help. I would appreciate some further assistance if possible.

Also, do you know what design or template my invoice(the one in the screenshots in the original pos)t is called? It does not seem to look like any of the other templates (modern, fresh, bold, friendly, airy new"

Bill to on different line than invoice details

Thanks for the update, Ryan.

The invoice template on your original post is called Airy classic. To keep that invoice style, let's create a new template and tag it as your default form instead. I'll gladly show you how to do this below.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then select Custom form styles.
  2. Select New style.
  3. Click the New style dropdown arrow and select Invoice.
  4. In the Design tab, give your template a name and select the Change up the template option.
  5. Select the Airy classic template.
  6. Continue customizing your invoice's header, table, and footer information.
  7. Click Done

Once completed, go back to the Custom form styles page and make the newly created invoice template your default style. Please see the screenshot below for your refence.

When you're ready, create and send invoices to your customers.

Additionally, record your customer payments so you can connect them to your invoices and balance your accounts. You can check out this article for the guide in completing the process in QBO: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

I'm always ready to back you up if you need more help with customizing and managing invoices in QBO. I'll keep the thread open so you can comment back.

Bill to on different line than invoice details

This helped, but not in the way I hoped. I decided to ditch the old invoice template( which does not look like airy classic to me) and go with airy new. Thank you

Bill to on different line than invoice details

Were you able to find an answer or a fix for your original question? I am having the exact same issue with the "Bill to" being on a separate line than the "Invoice Details" and it is wasting a lot of space. I am having this issue using the Modernized Template. Thanks!

Bill to on different line than invoice details

Hi there, Stambaugh.

I'm here to help you utilize a different template to rectify the spacing issue between your Bill to and Invoice Details fields.

The new invoice interface offers a modernized template that has a different PDF form layout. We can use a personalized invoice template to ensure the Bill to and Invoice Details fields appear in the same line. I'll show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Select Custom form styles.
  3. Press the New style dropdown and then pick Invoice.
  4. Go to the Content tab.
  5. Personalize the fields.
  6. Hit Done.

Once done, let's use the template in your transaction:

  1. Open an invoice.
  2. Click Manage, then scroll down to Design.
  3. Select the template you've created.
  4. Once done, click Print and download to view the PDF form.

For more details about personalizing and adding specific info to your sales forms, please see this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you'll want to visit this article that outlines how to document your invoice payments to keep correct financial records: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any additional questions about customizing your invoices, don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm here to provide further assistance.
