There is no option under settings to Get the desktop app.

A feature may or may not be available, depending on the version of QBO you are using. The QBO Desktop App is only available for QuickBooks Online Advanced and Accountant versions.

Wowwww, this feature used to be free! So now we have to upgrade to $100/month just to get the app?
I switched from an old Desktop Version to the Simple Start online 2 weeks ago. When migrating it gave me the option to down the app. It worked fine for 2 weeks. I just set up a new computer and now I can't find a way to down the app just two weeks later. It still functions 100% fine on a Simple Start plan on my other PC. Why in the world can I now not put the same app on my new PC that meets all the requirements? I know it says above that a minimum of Advanced is required but I am in the app and connected to a Simple Start subscription right now.

I accessed the gear icon but there isn't an option to download the desktop app. I have it on my desktop computer but am trying to get the app on my laptop.

As previously stated, downloading the desktop app via the Gear icon is only available for QuickBooks Online Advanced and Accountant versions. Also, it needs a Windows 64-bit processor in your software to have the feature.
If you already use the subscription and the processor mentioned and the issue persists, I recommend logging into your QBO account on a private browser. Then, go to the Gear icon and choose Get the desktop app from there. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue that might cause unusual behavior.
Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:
If it works in incognito, you need to clear the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above don't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

This is the link that finally worked for me. I also did not have the option available under my settings for some reason.

You're awesome. Just spent a few hours trying to figure this out. An hour of which was a chat of absolutely no help other than Intuit trying to identify who I was, my company, my phone # & email. All the kept telling me is I had to upgrade to the Advanced Subscription for $100/mo. Crazy.
You are a lifesaver! So ridiculous that QB help can't share a simple link. I have the app on my desktop with no problems, just wanted it on my laptop as well.
