Join nowHi all!
We are remotely hosted on Right Networks. The last few years we bought QuickBooks each and every year. I was just wondering if maybe we could save some money this year and not have to pay for QuickBooks24. I thought I read that Quickbooks is supported on the remote hosting up to three years in the past. It seems like we are at a pretty good spot where quickbooks has everything(ish) we need, and the new updates for 2024 don't seem to have anything that is a game changer.
Sooo...... my question is
Do we need to upgrade to QB24 with remote hosting or can we keep our remote hosting with QB23?
How many user license do you have?

Downgrading to QBD Premier is not an option for you. If you want to keep QBD 2023, you'll need to purchase a new license separately before October 3 and host it on another provider. You can purchase a new license through partners to get a perpetual discounts. They will support QBD 2023 through May 2026 but you will still have to pay the renewal fee every year.
Hi there, jroneill.
Allow me to chime in and elaborate on some things about upgrading QuickBooks Desktop and its license option.
You appear to have a subscription-based license, and yes, in previous versions of QuickBooks Desktop, we offered a one-time payment license that was valid for three years. However, those are no longer available, and in new versions of QuickBooks Desktop, such as the one you're using, we introduced the subscription-based license, which must be renewed annually, as @Fiat mentioned above.
So, to answer your question, no, you don't necessarily need to upgrade to the new version, but it is one of the many benefits of having a subscription-based license. This includes access to the most recent version of QuickBooks Desktop and new features, as well as technical support, data backups, and customer service while utilizing remote hosting services like Right Networks.
For more information on QuickBooks Desktop's cancellation policies, license agreement, and renewal, I've added the following articles:

Holy got you over a barrel batman. This sounds like coercion to update every year. Talk about a scam. Thanks for nothing Intuit.
If you are working solo, you can use the trial version for good if required.
This is the same questions for me, to me always an Accountant share to me for two clients, but now he is retaired... can I use 2023...? or I need to buy 2024 License?
Having your own license gives you complete control and allows you to manage everything yourself moving forward, easyBook2018.
Based on the details you've shared, your accountant owns and has provided access to the 2023 version to you. Now that you've parted ways professionally, it's best to get your license and use it for your company file.
