Enhanced vs Full Service Payroll

3 questions:

1. Is "full service" payroll just a fluffy upsell?   Both offer "Click for payroll tax E-File & E-Pay2"

2. I assume this means we can issue the tax payments right from within the software?

So the only extra thing "full service" offers is:

  • No tax penalties, guaranteed (this is meaningless and I don't care)
  • Payroll setup completed for you (I don't need this)
  • Free year-end forms included (who cares)

That brings us to the big one:

  • We file and pay taxes for you

3. But what does that mean?  Isn't it already pretty much automatic with "click for payroll tax and e-pay"?

I'm willing to pay the extra of it's something meaningful I'm missing, less work for us or accountant.

Thanks

Enhanced vs Full Service Payroll

F/S is  pretty inexpensive. With enhanced, Yes, you will get the emails that tell you to process the tax forms and take the steps. But with f/S, you don't have to worry about making sure you pay these payments on time as they're done for you. You don't have to worry about filing the tax forms on time, they're done for you. The biggest thing for most people is when they do the conversion they don't have to do the back work to connect the payments that were in place to the payroll system. .

I used to use the enhanced version but I've converted all of my clients over to the full service.   But that's mostly due to the volume of clients I have. The cost to me is low enough that it's cheaper for them to do it then for me to do it.  The other plus is when a state says they didn't get the return even though you filed it, you don't have to deal with it .  full-service will take care of that for you. Seems to happen in some states at least once a year.

which payroll service did you end up going with? I am still debating as I pay $80/month with full service but could drop down to $36/month and all I have to do is submit numbers as I receive the emails? Seems easy enough and worth saving the $44 a month.

Thanks!

What do you mean by back work to connect the payments?
