giving an accountant access to database

When I give a local accountant access to my Quickbooks Online account by inviting him, is he able to make a copy of my quickbooks online database? When  he is making changes to it will it affect what I am doing? How does Quickbooks differentiate between what I am doing and what the accountant is doing?

Your confusion ends here, @simpson17578.

Allow me to fill you in on everything you need to know about inviting an accountant into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

Once you invite an accountant into your QBO account, they'll be able to review your books, make corrections, and fix any tricky transactions. That said, your accountant will only make sure that the data you entered in QuickBooks is accurate.

For more details, you can read this article: Invite an accountant to review your accounting in QuickBooks Online.

You might also want to learn more about managing accountant users in QBO. This article will provide you the detailed information: Managing accountant users.

Please know you can continue to reach me here if you need further assistance in inviting accountants to QBO. Thanks for coming to the Community, wishing you continued success, @simpson17578.

My accountant had access for over a year but can no longer access my account.  How do I re-authorize her access?

Thanks for posting in the Community, Argiroff.

Let's reinvite your accountant so they can review and ensure the accuracy of your bookkeeping.

Inviting your accountant allows them to use powerful tools to easily review your records, make necessary corrections, and collaborate with you on any issues that may arise.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the top-right corner of your screen.
  2. Select Manage users under Your company.
  3. Enter your accountant’s email address, then press Invite.

Your accountant will receive an email invitation and their status will change to Active once they accept.

In case your accountant is still unable to access your company, I suggest letting them sign in through a private browser to isolate browser issues as the root cause of the problem. If everything works smoothly, they can clear the cache or use an alternative browser to access QuickBooks.

If you no longer want your accountant to access your books, you can check out the steps found in this article: Accountant users in QuickBooks Online.

For future use, here's an article on managing different user roles and access permissions: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.
