How can I transfer Admin rights to a different employee in Quickbooks desktop?

Welcome aboard to the Community, @mmazzarella.

Right now, transferring Admin rights to a different user is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. I suggest providing the employee with the login credentials to gain access.

For additional information about the QuickBooks Desktop Users and Restrictions, check out the following article. It also contains detailed steps about granting full access to a user:

There is only one, special, Admin user.  So, to make them the Admin, give them the Admin user password.

I have full access as an employee.   I am attempting to upload an IFF file from our 3rd party payroll GUSTO.  I get an error that you have to be ADMIN or and Accountant.   Is that true?   Is there anyway around it?

Hello there, @Korby.

Thanks for joining this conversation. Allow me to chime in and share information about importing IIF files in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Yes, that's right! To import or upload IIF files in QBDT, you need to be log in as the Admin. If you're not an admin user, you can ask one of your admins or accountant to do this for you as a workaround.

To learn more about managing IIF files in QBDT, consider checking out this article: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

If you use QBDT 2019 and later, here’s how to import your lists and transactions with the improved IIF tool.

For tips and other resources, I recommend visiting our website for future reference: QBDT self-help articles.

Don't hesitate to post again or leave a comment if you have additional questions about importing files or anything else. I'll be here to lend a hand. Take care always.
