How do I correct sales?

I have $3,496 in "uncategorized income" that should be listed under "sales" but can't seem to fix these transactions.

How do I correct sales?

Hello again, @quenchlife,

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I can guide you with correcting the account associated with the donations.

You're absolutely right in that selecting Undo will send the transaction back to For Review so that it can be corrected. I suggest the following article as it goes over Bank feeds and adding downloaded transactions in QuickBooks Online: How to Add and Match Downloaded Banking Transactions. In addition, the following is a brief video to serve as a demonstration of this:

Another option that you have is to modify the deposits from within the In QuickBooks page so that the correct account is associated with it. Here's how:

  1. Select the blue link, which will say something along the lines of "Added to: Deposit Uncategorized Income."
  2. Choose the account that you would like associated with the deposit in the Account section.
  3. Click Save.

I'm including a video to serve as a visual guide:

Lastly, since you mentioned that you're a non-profit organization, I recommend the following article for configuring your account: Configure QuickBooks Online for Your Non-Profit Organization.

Thanks for getting back, quenchlife.

Yes, the transactions in the In QuickBooks tab will go back to the For Review tab when you click the Undo button. Then, you can change the affected account and add them again.

You can check out DavidSC's answer to see the steps in undoing added or matched transactions.

How do I correct sales?

I want to know a few things so we can get through with this issue, quenchlife.

Are you using QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop? Where can you see the uncategorized income amount? Are you in the Banking page? Or are you in the Chart of Accounts?

Feel free to provide additional information and screenshots so I can help you further. Thank you in advance!

How do I correct sales?

Hello and thanks for your response. I'm using QuickBooks online. Currently I'm looking at the banking screen and I've clicked on the tab "In QuickBooks."

We are a non-profit so we get donations. So those donors who use the same bank as we do "transfer" funds into our bank account. It comes into Quickbooks as a "transfer: uncategorized sales" when it's really a "deposit: sales"  I realized this and was able to change several before adding them to QB, but I didn't catch some early on.

I see an "undo" button in the banking screen I'm in now. If I choose to undo a transaction will it go back to the "For review" area so that I can correct it?

How do I correct sales?

Hello David SC, community:

Just wanted to get back to you and ask about the QB instructions provided for "changing income and expenses to revenue and expenditures." Although I've followed the instructions and changed to "Nonprofit organization (Form 990)  twice, and logged in and out several times, it still remains as "income and expenses." Is there something else I must do?

How do I correct sales?

Hello there, quenchlife.

I’m glad you’re able to come across @David-212915 and @jamest for assistance in correcting the bank transactions downloaded as a Transfer. I have additional information about reasons why you’re unable to configure QBO for your Non-Profit organization.

There have been reports about the inability to change the account labels from income and expenses to revenue and expenditures even after toggling the Tax Form to Non Profit 990. The changing of the report name from Balance Sheet to Statement of Financial Position is also affected.

Our product engineers are aware of the impact and currently evaluating the issue for you. Rest assured they are working hard to come up with a resolution as soon as possible.

Also, I'll be updating this post once they will roll out a fix for this. To receive personal email about this, please contact us so we can sign you up to our list of affected users.
