I'm impressed you're even able to get the Estimate item detail data from this sales report. You can also filter the same report by Estimate, but you get blank data, only non-posting works. I also looked at it, seems like it's not customizable further than that.
What they really need is, "Estimates by Customer Detail" report instead of just currently available Estimates by Customer report.
Hi - I need this detailed estimate report too! Where is the filter for "Non-posting" ?
Hello there, @dcroteau!
Let's go to your Sales by Customer Detail report and filter it to show your non-posting transactions.
Here's how:
I've attached a screenshot below to show you where the filter is.

I have been trying and hoping for an answer for months. I also posted this other related question here https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Account-management/The-quot-Sales-by-Product-Service-Detail-...
Both sales by customer or sales by product detail reports only work if you select non-posting. They show nothing when selecting estimates. The problem with non-posting is that it shows both estimates and cash.
Even better, give me "Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer Report" but detail instead of summary. I need to see each line item in the estimate, not just the total.
Hi gusi,
The report to see each line item in the estimate is unavailable. You'll have to open the estimate manually in the Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report.
To let our engineers know how the "Estimates & Progress Invoicing Detail" report would help your business. You can send a product request directly to them by going to Gear, and then Feedback.
We're always here if you have further questions about QuickBooks.
Hi SheillaGraceA,
Given the vast amount of forum requests I see for this type of report both on the official QuickBooks chat forum as well as multiple 3rd party chat forums, I have to assume that QuickBooks is resistant to deliver on this report for some reason.
Is it that it is available in another more expensive version of QB and this is an attempt to get people to upgrade? The lack of this particular report seems so obvious in its absence that it must have been done with discussion and purpose, I'm just curious as to know what that purpose is/was?
Any thoughts?
We have been begging for this from the Intuit developers for *years* - we can't even find a 3rd party developer to help.
We need a way to run a report showing ALL item#s/item descriptions pulled from Estimates. Sorted by Item (not by customer).
Just as you go to "item list", right click and go to Quick Report: Item# but for estimates (or if from estimates could be included)
They won't add a way to do it :(
If they would just add a checkbox to this report to include from Estimates as well it would be perfect :(
We neeeed to know what items we need to order to cover estimate jobs and there is nooooooooo report to show this. We have to manually open each and every estimate and manually write down what we need. Drives us crazy. I don't understand why we can't create a custom report for this?
Can ANYONE help with a custom report for this?
Sadly we have been letting the Engineers know we *need* reporting help for Estimates for 15 years. They haven't responded :(
This is how I did it.
Run Estimates by Job
I prefer the right hand column to be "Amount" as it excludes tax
In the Filters for Account I selected "All ordinary income accounts"
In the Filters for Estimate Active I selected "Yes"
Then when I run the report if there are 3 lines of details in the estimate, I get three lines of information for the same estimate
Hi, go to Report Center, choose Sales, scroll down until you find Estimates By Item For Sales Team and select this report by double clicking.
Click on Customize Report, choose Filters (2nd tab), type Name in the Search Filters box, All names will now be displayed under Name.
Click on Display (1st tab) and chose the date range that suits you.
Click OK (blue tab at the bottom)
You will have an estimate report that displays the individual line items of each estimate.
Good luck!
Cheryl
I don't know how you figured this out, but THANK YOU!
I don't know how you figured this out, but THANK YOU!
I do not see an Estimates by Item for Sales Team in my Standard Reports. Any other suggestions?
Hi there, CYCBusiness1526.
The Estimates by Item for Sales Team report is only available in the QuickBooks Desktop version. This is the reason why you're unable to see it in your QBO account.
As a work around, you can use the Sales by Customer Detail report. Then, customize it to only show non-posting transactions. Here's how:

Thanks, but that doesn't show what I need! I need to be able to see only Estimates and not all the other non-posting items, and only for active estimates. Plus the report you suggested does not show the actual remainder to be invoiced for each item. Basically useless for our project managers!
Hi there, @CYCBusiness1526.
I know the importance of having the report you need. However, at this moment, the option to pull up data to show only active estimates and its remains to be invoiced for each item isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO). In the meantime, you can run the Sales by Customer Detail to show all your estimates and its Product/Service items. Then, export it to Excel so you can add other information that you'd want from there.
I can see how the feature you're looking for would benefit and empower your business. In the meantime, I recommend sending this request straight to our product engineers through feedback.
