That looks like just another bridge from Shopify to Intuit. I wont use the Shopify Store Connect as it does not have many features and most of the time does transfer. I use PAREX | E-commerce Accounting Simplified can be found in Shopify App Store. There is no app for the connection from Shopify Balance to Intuit as it is a bank and has to be secure.
thanks for posting the details around Evolve and Stripe for Shopify Balance.
There are two QBO services that are supposed to work with Shopify
1) QuickBooks Commerce gets you Shopify payout and sales info, but not other Shopify Balance transactions. That's working fine.
2) Shopify Balance Connector in the bank transactions section. Fails with blank login dialog, 571 error on connection attempt. For me it's been broken since Oct 31, 2023. Lots of screenshots on this thread. Lots of customer service info that's wrong. There are open tickets and escalations already in place. QBO hasn't commented on their progress other than some individual communications.
Hopefully someone from QBO will provide an actual update here - with specifics. Nothing so far
I've personally given up on this interface and moved to journal entries. Lots of info online for handling shopify sales entries in QBO, but in general it involves period end summary transactions rather than detailed ones.
I talked to customer service yesterday, they have no clue what I was talking about. That's scary I think they have gotten rid of all their customer service reps like Shopify and now its a third party as they do not know the product very well at all. I get the same from the farmed out Shopify Chat now so it must be the new thing.
Parex looks interesting.. more reasonably priced than AMX
Not sure I understand your comment about "no app for the connection from Shopify Balance to Intuit as it is a bank and has to be secure". This was a working interface that's no longer functioning. They have not provided any information as to why.
My spirit shattered when you said you've given up and moved on to journal entries. I've been avoiding this outcome like the plague. lol I refuse. I mean, I'll do it if I must but this is so ridiculous that we should have to. I was really holding out hope on the possibility of getting some resolution this week because it seemed like you all had maybe climbed the ladder enough to make some headway on a solution. Maybe I'm just being the eternally delusional optimist. lol
I'm having the same issue quickbooks is not connecting to shopify balance.
I switched to xero - same problem there.
I tried finaloop - they use plaid to connect - it doesn't pull data pass September
I applied for funding and the lender use plaid to read data on my Shopify Balance they also ran into same issue they can read data pass September.
The problem is with Shopify Balance and there integration api.
Hi there, @storeowner123.
I appreciate what you've done so far in connecting Shopify balance to QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you weren't able to search for the Shopify app in QBO, that means it isn't supported yet. With this, I recommend contacting Shopify application and request to enable the integration.
Moreover, you may check API (Application Programming Interface) if they're currently having any system maintenance so we can ensure you'll be assessed with this issue.
In addition, you can refer to this article to learn more about disconnecting third-party apps to QBO: Disconnect an app and change subscription.

@MAnneJ Did you even bother to read through the thread before posting a canned response? This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH AN APP. It is an issue with a bank connection. I'm about to cancel my subscription and seek a refund. I'm not even using Shopify Balance anymore at this point, but these kinds of responses and the absolute lack of effort on Quickbooks' behalf to actually resolve this tells me that I don't want to do business with them.
I got you, @JSpiers667x. I'll provide the steps for contacting our support team in QuickBooks Online Payroll. We understand the frustration of not having this process as anticipated and the significance of getting this fixed as quickly as possible.
Since you've tried to perform the basic troubleshooting steps as suggested by my colleague above, however, you're still unable to connect to Shopify successfully. I urge you to call our support team so they can further assist you on how to remove this bug within QuickBooks Online.

this is absurd. read the thread. there are open cases already including mine, 15111202950. This was "escalated to the backend team" a couple of weeks ago. UPDATE THE OPEN CASES. FIX THE PROBLEM.
I'm done.
The last two replies from Quickbooks Staff, coupled with the utter lack of effort to resolve this issue, pushed me to a point where I don't want to do business with Quickbooks. In 2024, there are plenty of other options available and these clowns aren't "#1" anymore. I have never heard anything back from the hour-long call I made to Quickbooks Support and the issue is still unresolved. Is this the kind of customer service I can expect if I have a serious issue that involves more than an obscure bank account connection? No thanks. I'll be taking a look another look at Freshbooks and Finaloop. Both of which, I might add, are capable of connecting to Shopify Balance accounts. Freshbooks was a little harder to get connected, but their support team actually responded during my trial for it. Finaloop connected right away.
I have already requested a refund for QBO as I'm still within the 60-day satisfaction guarantee.

Hey look! Another QuickBooks employee who pastes a canned response without reading through the whole thread. Big surprise. @KayePe if you had bothered to read through this whole thread, you would know that @bradnic has been in this thread for a while now and has already contacted support with zero results. Well done.
I have been fighting with QBO online support - 2 or 3 different case numbers, and over 2 hours spent on the phone with screen sharing. Only answers I have gotten is that it was "escalated to back end support" since November 2023 without any resolution. At this point, with tax season coming up - I am thinking I will have to manually upload the transactions from Shopify Balance into QBO, as who knows if/when there is going to be a resolution. That was the only bit of advice I had received from the last support rep during our screenshare- something to the effect of "I will escalate this case, but if worst comes to worst, then manually uploading transactions is still a possibility...". Getting absolutely ridiculous.
the problem is not quickbook the problem is shopify balance we need to reach out to shopify balance to update shopify balance
There is no way you can confirm that is true
@wu23 youll need to do journal entries. Good references for posting Shopify entries to QBO on YouTube
So I just did a Shopify Balance integration with my shipping provider. Same login prompt dialog. The shipping service uses PLAID for their integration. Worked PERFECTLY. I will be joining @JSpiers667x and dropping QBO. They clearly can’t support a critical integration needed to manage accounting for businesses that use Shopify web stores. I’ve spent hours working around QBO limitations. Their support is terrible.
No more.

I cancelled my QBO subscription because of this. Unfortunately Xero has the same limitations. Still considering options.
That link to QBO apps that link to Shopify is very useful thank you. Intuit themselves have an app there with a 2 star rating. That's the one we're all having problems with. Still. In my case since Oct 2023.
On the plus side I forced myself to reconcile accounts manually, and did journal entries for the annual closing. Learned a lot, but it cost me an entire week of my time to do so. Worse, It's going to happen again with the next accounting close.
It seems that the response to support on this situation is pay a 3rd party to do what our app doesn't do..
If QBO has no intention of fixing their app, then they should withdraw it and be honest with QBO customers using Shopify. This dragging things out for months while withholding info from your customers is a miserable thing to do.
@bradnic I cancelled mine as well. I'm looking at Finaloop right now and pretty happy with it. It is an actual bookkeeping service from what I can tell for less per month than I paid QBO. Freshbooks is another alternative.
one other thing that is ABSOLUTELY unhelpful - lumping together apps for Shopify order info imports with apps that import Shopify Balance transactions. They're completely different things. Even QBO has different apps for that, poorly named. Just look at the app link the support rep shared and you'll see what I mean
"Shopify Connector by QuickBooks" imports payouts. that's all it appears to do. That functionality works, yet the app has a 2 star rating.
"Shopify for QuickBooks Online". appears to do the same thing but for QBO. There's "QuickBooks Commerce" branding in the demo video. No idea what the difference is. Maybe the first one is older, or the 2nd one is owned by a different product team.
Neither of these apps support Shopify Balance. You'd think the customer support team would know this.
All the apps with decent rating will cost over $200 a year or more,
@JSpiers667x thanks I'll take a look.
