Sir,
When I launch QB for Mac 2019 and select FILE / OPEN COMPANY I can see the backed up data file of QB for Mac 2016, visible but dimmed and cannot be opened.
I tried to back it up in a different folder but the result is the same.
Why is it not undimmed in the backup folder when trying to open it with QB for Mac 2019 ?
Opening the back up file done with QB for Mac 2016 in QB for Mac 2016 no problem.
My email: [email address removed].
Thanks for your help,
A.Trapenberg
The process for opening a backup file is identical in both year versions. Your better option is to locate and open your working file.
Hallo SkinnyRaven,
Thanks for your reply,
When I launch QB for Mac 2019 and go to FILE / OPEN COMPANY and go tho the folder with the back up of the company file done in QB for Mac 2016, I can see the backup but it is dimmed and I am not able to open it in QB for Mac 2019. It is not accessible for QB for Mac 2019.
(seen file above)
I can not click on it, to open it.
What do you mean with "locate and open the working file"?
It has to be opened with QB for Mac 2019, but how??
Thanks for your support,

Browse the folder where you store your company file, not your backup files. If you don't recall do a search from a finder window or spotlight for .qb2016, this will be your working file.
I am trying to upgrade from MAC desktop 2016 to 2019. When I push the update button it says there was a problem converting this file. Not sure what is the problem
