The Hidden section consists of active and inactive companies that you don't want to show in the list. We can click Hide if you'd like to put the account in this section. Then, select Unhide company if you want to remove them. For visual reference, I've added screenshots below.
Here's how to hide a company:
Here's how to unhide a company:
On the other hand, the Canceled section is where you can view the companies that are in the read-only state or the accounts you can no longer access unless you re-subscribe. For more details about canceling your company, please see this article: Terminate my QuickBooks Online Subscription or Trial.
Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you update the card on file, change your subscription, or view your billing history: Manage Billing, Payment, and Account Info in QuickBooks Online.

Thank you, @CharleneMaeF. Yes, I do understand how to unhide them but ALL of the companies in the Hidden and Cancelled were all cancelled previously....it's just recently, that a portion of those cancelled became part of the "hidden" instead of the cancelled and I'd like them all to be in the cancelled part...and that's the part that I don't understand. WHY they suddenly changed to "hidden" vs "cancelled" and how do I get them back to the "cancelled" ones.
Thank you for getting back, Devonne. I'll help you transfer the canceled companies from the Hidden Companies to the Canceled Companies section.
The companies under the Hidden section include your active and canceled accounts. To transfer all your inactive companies under Canceled Companies, follow these steps:
On the other hand, if you'd like to make your canceled subscription active, resubscribe to QuickBooks and reactivate it immediately.
Let me know if you have further questions about hidden and canceled company accounts. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
@Angelyn_T , as I stated in my first response, I KNOW how to unhide them. I don't want to see them. I want them back as PART OF THE CANCELLED ONES. How do I get that to happen. And again, that's where they were until recently.
Let me chime in and clarify things out, Devonne.
The Cancelled section on the QuickBooks log-in page consists of read-only access companies. Please know that once the subscription is ended, it’ll automatically be part of canceled groups. Moreover, the complimentary period to view the data will eventually be over.
You mentioned that all the companies in the Hidden and Cancelled were canceled previously. You’ll want to unhide them all to get them back. Refer to the steps provided by my colleague Angelyn_T to accomplish it.
If your login page still shows the hidden and canceled files, you can use other supported browsers to sort them out. Doing this can also verify if this is a browser-related issue. If everything is in place, get back to your regular browser and clear its cache.

@MadelynC , y'all are trying to be so helpful! Please understand that NONE of the cancelled (or hidden) companies have been cancelled for a year yet...the earliest end date for viewing access is January 2024. I have companies in the "hidden" that have viewing access until January 2024 AND I have companies in the "canceled" section that have viewing access through January 2024.
When I try to do as you say and "unhide" the cancelled companies, I don't only have an option to "Delete" the company.
I must reiterate my comment - different companies with the SAME TERMINATION DATE are not being handled by QB in the same manner.
I've got you, @devonne.
I appreciate all of your work and time spent on this matter. I'll add other details about this deleted canceled QuickBooks Online account concern.
QuickBooks Online will automatically delete canceled companies if it's already over a year for paid subscriptions and 90 days for trial accounts. For more information, see this link: What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?
Usually, a new feature of QuickBooks Online allows you to delete a terminated company, regardless of whether the company was canceled recently or before a year. That said, the date you canceled or viewing access to your account makes no difference. See the sample screenshots below for more guidance:
If you received a message that We got your request to delete you data, cancel the request. After that, proceed with the deletion again to permanently delete this from your list.
Here's how:
4. Return to the Data privacy page, then hit Delete and Make a delete request.
5. Choose your account in the list and select Delete this data.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
In addition, requesting to delete your account takes time, as our back-end team needs to review this before deleting them permanently and remove to the list.
If the issue persists, I'd recommend logging into your account through incognito mode. This way, we can see if the problem is with the browser.
QuickBooks can act strangely when you have too much cache in your regular browser.
Here are the shortcuts for the keyboard:
If fixed, please return to your regular browser and press the CTRL+ Shift and Delete keys on the keyboard to clear the cache. Also, accessing another browser is a good alternative too.
Moreover, check out the following articles below on how to manage your billing subscriptions and other related matters:
Lastly, please attach screenshots of your canceled companies lists. This way, I can find another solution to help fix the issue.
Thank you for allowing me to help. Don't hesitate to contact me again if you require further assistance. Keep safe.
I have the same problem! I have access to four companies. Only one has an active subscription, the other three are cancelled. 2 of the cancelled companies show in the "Cancelled companies" list as they should. But the third is in the active list, and I can only hide and unhide it. I want rid of that one, but have no option for deleting it.
Hi there, @abi278.
I'm here to help you get rid of your company account. You'll need to ensure that you cancel the subscription to avoid getting charged for the subscription fee.
If you already have cancelled that company account, you can leave it as a hidden company. QuickBooks Online will automatically delete canceled companies if it's already over a year for paid subscriptions and 90 days for trial accounts. However, if you want to remove that company from your active or hidden list, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks support to help cancel and delete your company file.
Additionally, I'd like to drop these articles about what to do after canceling a subscription:
