Hello, Hedgehog2.
I'll ensure you'll be able to export your payroll data properly to your QuickBooks Mac program.
Quic.kBooks Payroll will download an IIF file containing your payroll data when you click the Export button. You would still need to import the file manually to QuickBooks Mac, so your data will show up in your Mac file.
If you don't have the file anymore, download it again from the Payroll settings. Then, import it to your Mac program.
In QuickBooks Mac, simply click the File menu, hover on Import, then select From IIF Files.
Also, you'll want to check your data in your Chart of Accounts and ensure the payroll details are properly imported.
Go to the Company menu, then select Chart of Accounts. Review the payroll account's register and your bank account for the data.
However if your data is still not imported, you'll want to contact our support. Our agents can check the system and fix what's preventing you from getting the payroll details. Here's how you can reach our payroll support:
Need to check your employee's year-to-date payroll amounts in your new online payroll system? This article can help you pull up an effective report: Run payroll reports.
I still encourage you to visit our Community space if you have more questions about your payroll system or your data in the Mac platform. I'm always here to help.

Yes! It worked! Thank you. Just like you said, I had to import the IIF file from downloads. Once I opened the IIF file, it prompted me to import the data into my company file. I was used to the old system that would do it automatically, the new payroll has one more step, but not that bad. Thank you for your help.
This is ridiculous. When I open payroll now it says "your payroll just got a lot smarter" but I have to do extra steps to export payroll. How is that smarter? And the message above says if you want to talk to a person, start by clicking on the help icon from online payroll. Well there is NO help icon on my screen although I am in the "smarter" payroll system. UGH!!!!!
This is not the kind of experience that we want you to have, @NolaSDC.
I can help you with exporting your payroll transactions to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
Exporting your transactions from your payroll account depends on what kind of payroll subscription you have. For detailed guidance on how to export your transactions and on QuickBooks automatically imports them to your file, refer to this article: Export Intuit Online Payroll transactions to QuickBooks for Windows or Mac (IIF).

So there are NO .iif files in downloads. AND I have searched my entire Mac for them. I have even searched for 'payroll'. Further, I am trying to work with a human, on the phone, and they don't even know this much. We are now in our 4th payroll cycle with this UNRESOLVED, and have had to manually enter the payroll in exasperation. RIDICULOUS.
I cannot re-export from on-line payroll, because the pop-up message "no new transaction to export' comes up. There is NO LOG of exports. Dumb. Logs and accounting are integral.
Now what?
Hello, lessbarb.
This isn't the kind of experience that I'd like you to have while using a QuickBooks, and we know how much time it can take when something isn't working in your end.
Also, I believe this post is a duplicate and one of my colleagues already answered it. Let me route you to the original post. Here's the link below:
