Let me share some information on how QuickBooks handles new users, @userdavid1.

Depending on the role of your new user, you'd have to enter their First name, Last Name, and their email address.

Once completed, they'd received an email invitation. From there, they'd have to click the Let's go link to create their own Intuit login credentials.

They'll be routed to the page where they can set up their account's information and password.

If they're not asked to create a new password, it's possible that the system was able to detect an existing Intuit or QuickBooks account. Once they click on the Let's go link on the invitation,  they'd be routed to the Sign In page.

Also, if you're not quite sure about your old login credentials, you can click on the reset password link. You can read through this article for more detailed steps: Reset your password or recover your user ID for QuickBooks Online.

Swing by here if you have other questions or concerns about the authorized users in your QuickBooks account. I'm always here to help.

Greetings, @userdavid1

Making sure your new account user is able to access their account is my priority. That being said, was he or she able to accept the invitation you sent and successfully access their account?

Always feel free to visit us here if you have other login-related questions and concerns. I'm always here to lend a hand.

When adding new user - All goes well until the sign in pops up for the new user.  The email address is there but the screen asks for Intuit password.  Entering the original user password does not work and I can see no place to add a password for the new user.  I have a 5 user account.  Puzzled.

Hi Tony-1936,

Each user has their own Intuit account associated with their email. That account has a username and password that they will use for all QBO companies to which they are added as a user.

If your new user doesn't remember the password of his Intuit account, he needs to reset it. Then, you can delete the pending invitation in your QBO and re-invite him again.

You can share these steps with him:

  1. Open this link using in a browser: https://accounts.intuit.com/account-recovery.html
  2. Enter his user ID or email address and click Continue.
  3. Choose where he wants to receive the OTP (One-Time Password) to verify his account.
  4. Enter the code in the box provided, then let him follow the on-screen instructions to recover his account. Once done, reinvite the user.

I just want to reiterate that emails and login credentials belong to the Intuit account, not to the subscriptions (QBO, QBO Payroll, Merchant services, etc).

Here's a related article about resetting a password: Reset or change your login information for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Accountant, and Quic.... In this case, a user will log in to QBO or the company that he has access to, then update his password.

I'm only a comment away if you need help throughout the process. Take care and have a good one!

Hello, JMAHanaska.

The error you've encountered usually happens to the stored files in your browser. Sometimes an overloaded browser stops QuickBooks Online from working correctly. Open QuickBooks in a private or incognito window to see if the issue is with your browser. This can help us eliminate any cache-related problems that may have led to the issues. To open it, use the following shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P

If the steps above are successful, I suggest clearing your browser's cache to eliminate outdated cookies. Some data stored on your browser can impact the transmitted data, resulting in unusual responses.

If private browsing does not work, I recommend using a different browser. It will provide you with the best and most secure QuickBooks experience possible. For more information, please see this article: System Requirements For QuickBooks.

Let me know in the comment section if you need further help. I'll be around to lend a helping hand. Stay safe and healthy always.
