Join nowMy organization has QB Desktop license permits installation on three separate PCs for 3 separate entities. Data resides on the local PCs not on a server except for backup and the data is not shared among the PCs/users. QUESTION: can each independent installation of the software be assigned a separate Administrator User ID and Password or must there be one shared Master Administrator? Each entity desires to have different settings for various Company Level Preferences and the ability to run Admin level utilities independently without needing to involve a shared Master Administrator. Also, each entity does not want the others to have access to each others systems.
Hello, Unclewilley.
I have some information on setting up individual administrator for each independent installation.
Yes, you can assign a separate administrator user ID and password for each individual installation. As long as the installation and the file remain separate, each entity will have administrator privileges. Also, other users won't direct access to another system.
Note: There is only one primary admin per company file. However, you can always add another secondary admin.
To set up or change the settings for your users:
Do this until all of your entities are set up in their own individual systems.
