This morning I got a voicemail on my office number (the number listed on my QuickBooks account) saying that my QuickBooks Online account is up for renewal but the credit card was declined. The voicemail gave a phone number to call and a person to ask for. I called the phone number, and all I got was a recording, in a synthetic-sounding voice, saying we're too busy now, please try again later. I tried this a couple of times and got the same thing. I left a message but didn't leave any PII, let alone a credit card number. Then I looked at my account online and found that a credit card payment had gone through successfully just yesterday. I verified this in my banking records. I also noticed that my phone operator (Google Voice) had tagged the call (from an 877 number) as possible spam.
This is extremely suspicious. The call clearly came from a scammer, someone who knew that I have a QB account and knew my office phone number, they were hoping that I would leave a voice mail message with a credit card number. It is hard to believe that it's a coincidence. Therefore I believe that Intuit's account database has been hacked. I tried getting to someone at Intuit's fraud & abuse department but the help chatbot just gave me the runaround. I would be grateful if someone could suggest next steps.
Thanks,
- bill.

Thanks but I am not so sure about "Rest assured that your data is safe with us," which to me sounds like a boilerplate reply that does not address the particulars of this situation. To repeat, there is enough specificity about this purported scam to suggest a data breach. I would like an investigation and to know the result of that investigation, not just some boilerplate response.
Thanks,
- Bill.

Hi,
Today, we received a similar set of scam emails, saying that our account was locked and that we needed to sign up for a minimum of a year's subscription.
The really concerning part is that the scammers (domain intuitaccountingservices.com) had the correct:
Account number
License number
Product number (which we only updated a few days ago)
Last 4 digits of the credit card
I am not sure how someone would have gotten all this from us; seems more like a data breach at Intuit.
Any updates on this, or steps to take to either report or get information on such a breach?
Steve W.
