Why are invoices/sales receipts showing up twice on my transaction reports?

Noticed duplicate line items on my transaction reports and blank lines with $0 dollar amounts. How do I get rid of this? It really makes it look messy and hard to read.

Why are invoices/sales receipts showing up twice on my transaction reports?

Hi, kattlees.

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'd be glad to assist you with your question about duplicate invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

There's a possibility that the invoices were accidentally created twice. You can manually delete the duplicates in QBO

Here’s how:

  1. Find the transactions you want to delete, and open them one at a time.
  2. Tap More at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Choose Yes to confirm the deletion.

Also, I have articles here about managing reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for your reference:

Drop me a comment below if you have any questions about duplicate invoices in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you some more.

I am sure the invoices aren't in there twice. It lists the same invoice number two times.

Here is an example of a customer. The screenshot of their

Thanks for coming back to the Community, kattlees.

I appreciate for adding more details about the issue, especially the screenshot. This will give us a better view on what to the invoice and sales receipt.

We’ll have to access your company to check the transactions. Performing this troubleshooting requires us to gather some information to accomplish this task.

Since the security of your personal data comes first, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team. They have extra tools like screen-sharing that will assist them in identifying the cause of the duplication of items. When the permanent solution is available, our specialists will guide you on how to apply it and make sure your transaction reports have the correct data.

  1. Open QBO and press the Help icon at the top to open the support window.
  2. In the Assistant tab, scroll down to the Type something field and key in a brief description about your concern. For example, duplicate line items on the report.
  3. Press the Get help from a human link and follow the on-screen steps to complete the process.
  4. In How would you like to connect with us? section, select Chat for real-time assistance or Callback to speak with an agent.

Let me share a link that contains topics that will guide you on how to manage your customers’ transactions, payments, etc: Self-help articles.

Here’s a great resource that will help keep track of the activities in your company: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online. It provides detailed information on how to use the tool in determining who made any changes to your books.

Reach out to me again if you have additional questions about reports and other customer-related concerns. I’ll be right here to answer them for you. Have a great day ahead.
